Okay, I'm a treehugger, I admit it. And I know not everyone cares about that. People want oil. People want big hummer cars. People want high paying oil-based jobs. People want the lights on. And so a few barn owls die, right?
But all of that is beside the point once you see the rape of mother earth that is happening in Canada's tar sands. We are talking about devastation that can be seen from space. We are talking about virgin forest laid bare and poisoned for generations to come.

That used to be a forest...with animals and birds and soft breezes. Now the very ground is poison and so is all of that once fresh water. More fresh water used in one year than is used by the entire city of Calgary. You think you need oil, let me tell you that you really need water. And it costs 3 times as much damage to the ozone to extract one barrel of this oil.

And yes, people will have jobs, for a time, but at what a cost! Seriously! How can anyone live with being a party to this? It makes me want to turn off all of my lights and huddle in a corner in shame.
