Okay, people are doing well with this. But we do have a limited amount of players on this game.
Answer to the previous T/F question, as last time, behind the cut and below the spaces at the bottom of this post.

I will probably give this up in a few more days...but for now...another confession...

True or False?

When I was in fifth grade, I was the proud owner of a pony for about 12 hours and then I lost him in a poker game.

And the answer to yesterday's puzzler...

Is...FALSE. That was a lie. I did not ever interview Sigfried of Sigfried and Roy. I was inspired by the fact that Patrick Wayne, son of John Wayne was the Grand Marshall of a parade in my home town at the time I was a DJ. But, sadly, I didn't get to interview Patrick Wayne either. It was all just a sad lie. I never have met anyone even remotely famous...no...wait...I lie. I have met someone famous. How could I forget? But more about that later.

Aaah, you got me on the DJ one! Well, the interviewee, not the job....

And you shouldn't have been gambling at the age of 11(?) so I don't believe you! But I'm not doing very well in this. In fact, people used to say that there is a picture of me in the dictionary under 'gullible' - unfortunatley most people don't believe that I could be that gullible!

Ooh, question to challenge - what else did you bet?

Ah, well! It is true that I shouldn't have been gambling. However, I started playing poker at the tender age of 4 which would have been another nice question for the masses.

But to be fair to you in guessing...I wasn't the one playing poker at this time...I was simply the one who lost a pony. My stepfather was playing the hand and he also bet our new color TV...which I loved and which we had only had for about 2 months.

Hmm, further information required: did you manage to win the pony back or were you scarred for life at its loss? Actually I already now know that you prefer cats of the large size.

Btw,[livejournal.com profile] rednekkid has just posted some beautiful pictures of the cats at the EFRC, where he volunteers. He also posts about his work there but they're locked cause he also posts good bits of conversations with his colleagues!

I believe I was indeed scarred for life. At the very least, I certainly bitterly resented the loss of the pony.

Oooh...off to look at big cats. I wouldn't say I prefer them to horses. But...okay...yes, I suppose I would always chose the cats to go see. However, I might rather own a pony than a cougar.

OH! OH! They are lovely contented looking cats. I really like seeing them so relaxed. Too often caged tigers and cougars look like they are having mental breakdowns and I feel so sorry for them. But these guys appear to be chilling...and also alert and interested.

I am reminded of my brother (yes, the same one) who, when I innocently asked what they were thinking said, "They are planning your death."

thinking they definitely might be plotting against the antelope in the zoo with them.

Nope, no antelope - it's the Exotic Feline Rescue Centre: if there's a drug lord with a tiger, the poor excuse for a man goes to prison and the tiger goes to a lovely new enclosure with paying guests to pee at (apparently some of them have spraying issues).

There are, however a large number of horses who go in to the centre...

I googled it after I saw the pics. What a lovely place. But they did mention they had deer there. Not in cages, just running about the new 108 acres they were gifted with recently. It's mentioned in the bit about staying overnight in a cabin. You can watch the cats or the assorted wild roaming wildlife. I think that's a nice bonus for the predators. And, of course, being allowed to pee on passersby is also a nice bonus. Some of the stories are heartbreaking, too. Thanks for linking me to the pics...and via that to the site. I'd never heard of them before this.

As for the poor drug lord, I was somewhat appalled by the one who let his leopards roam free but kept his wife chained to a banister railing. I do wonder if that was a permanent arrangement or if he only made a hasty choice under pressure from the law enforcement closing in on him.

Depends upon the type of pony. If it was a real live breathing pony, I say no. If it was say a small toy pony I believe it. I lost many a toy and book in a poker game at that age. ;)

It was a real life full-sized pony. Closer to horse size I am given to understand...though I never actually saw the pony only its pasture and stables in the wee hours of the morning. The pony was sensibly asleep at 2:00 am, of course.

Also, I didn't want to qualify this...but since you did ask...I wasn't playing the hand that lost the pony...I simply lost him as in...he was no longer mine.

Interestingly enough, I won the other sort of pony, the toy sort (and a very valuable one that my folks could never afford for me) by picking the winner of a triple crown race for one of my stepfather's buddies. He placed a big bet and when the horse came in he bought me a beautiful china appaloosa as a thank you gift.

It is a wonder I don't have a gambling addiction, isn't it? I think it is because I learned the system is rigged early in life.

I am great at this! But I'm not so confident about this one. Hm. What was the creature's name?

I did not own the pony long enough to give it a name. If it already had a name, I don't remember it.

Hmm. Since you said that you didn't play the hand that lost him, it's just believable enough to be a screwed-up kind of true. Still, I think I'll be optimistic this time and say it's false.
