I suppose I am probably the last person in the fandom to see this article. But just in case I'm not...here is a link to the creative fanart crossovers (aka Mash-Ups) that have been created recently for Doctor Who.

There's a lovely Simpson's one for Eleven, but my favorite is probably the Futurama one. I would dearly love to see Ten and Rose dash by on the street sometime in Futurama.

Date: 2010-08-07 05:27 am (UTC)My fave is the UsualSuspects lineup ...'Tho I admit that #2 has me stumped. I got Rowan Atkinson and Peter Cushing, but - leaving aside all the other regenerations in tCoFD - I can't think of another Doctor. I should recognize the sideburns, if not the costume! Unless ... Oooh, here's a thought: could it be Michael Jayston as the Vallyard?
Which "Who" do you suppose it is?
Wait, wait -- don't tell me: I have it!
Date: 2010-08-07 04:49 pm (UTC)I was thrown off by the fact that none of the other regenerations from tCoFD were in the lineup, AND the fact that I expected that he'd be a real-life portrayal, but I just KNEW I'd seen that drawing somewhere -- just the drawing! There was an animated DW (predating Ten's The Infinite Quest), that was voiced by Grant and the drawing of that Doctor was based on him.
Whew! That was a trick!
(Also, sorry if you tried to reply to the earlier version of the previous post; I can't edit, I can only delete and repost. I made some corrections, but I didn't catch the mispelling of the Valeyard and then decided that I'd frustrated you enough for one post!)

Date: 2010-08-11 03:02 am (UTC)Also, you will be happy to know that I was watching Nine/Rose stories today. I watched Father's Day and Boom Town and The Doctor Dances and a bit of Unquiet Dead. They were so very sexy together, the Doctor and Rose, and I stand by Father's Day being one of the most romantic episodes ever. He quite obviously loves her...as Pete points out near the end. And my heart broke for them all over again. They just should never be parted.

Date: 2010-08-11 04:32 am (UTC)Yes. Yes, they were.
Season 1 was just such a perfect love story, you know? Two really interesting people finding out that for all their differences they each were really the most special when they were together.
To me, the later seasons were about throwing obstacles in their way or getting busy and remembering each other later, when they had a free moment -- or, after they were separated, with a sad jolt.
But the first season was a slow building of trust and awareness of potentials. Every time I see an episode I see more in it than I remembered!
And tho' you know I'm partial to Nine, I don't discount Ten. It was just a huge adjustment, and it took me longer than Rose to accept it. But in the end, and when it comes right down to it, I am not sorry that I didn't trust Ten as much as Nine. For there is a huge difference between "your wish is my command" and "oh, she knows" when you've been listening for "as you wish".
Rose was right up front with "better with two" and "show me your moves" and "I want you safe". And Nine was ...tentative, but willing. Ardent, even.
I know you prefer Ten, so I won't criticize (here, on your blog), but he just didn't get get it done for me. Not in the beginning and especially not at the end.
As I wrote earlier to you, I just can't stop thinking about how sad it is that Ten never actually said "I love you" to Rose even when he gave himself the perfect opportunity to do so in those final moments when he went back and hid in the shadows and pretended to be drunk. That would have been a moment to get it said and done, once and for all. And the "Oh, she knows." line would then have taken on that much more resonance in retrospect, I think.
So... how crazy are we both, that you spent the day watching my favorite, Nine, while I spent the day thinking about your favorite, Ten ?!? ;-)
