I can't believe this vid only had 175 hits. That's criminal and, hopefully, about to change...because it is hilarious. A musical theater balm to the hearts of disenchanted (aka bitter  ) Rose/Doctor fans everywhere. Poor Ten comes off...well...hilariously worthless in this one.

At first, I didn't think I liked the voice dubbing bits at the start, but they grew on me with each viewing and now I find them pretty funny. The only thing I would have changed is that for once...I would have put the Ten2/Rose kiss at the end...just after the Doctor striding over the seatbacks...then have the final kiss and the "There's a time and place for everything"...and his "What?" face. But...well...what did you all think of it?

Oh, and here is the direct link if you want to comment for the vidder or add it to your favorites.

This is why I feel I must go back and address Ten2 and Rose… because I must explain how the Doctor became hilariously worthless.

That’s interesting. Can you share what you’ve got in mind? I would’ve thought the problems with Ten’s character arc went back a lot further than “Journey’s End.” Or were you planning to date the separation between Ten and Ten II to the swordfight in “The Christmas Invasion”?

(I think the problem goes all the way back to the regeneration from Nine into Ten. In fact, I know some people who think it goes back to Nine absorbing the energy of the Time Vortex, and what Ten told Jack about becoming a vengeful god, and that makes sense to me. It’s why I go AU after “Turn Left.” In my personal canon, Ten used that energy, along with the energy Rose put into Jack, to cross the Void. Then, after he crash-landed in Pete’s World and regenerated into Eleven, he was himself again. But I’m interested to see what sort of fix you’re planning.)

I am afraid I must remain elusive about this one...but I will tell you the title is "Something Borrowed"...and from that you can spin out a bit of the tale, I think.

As for you Nine lovers...who have a problem with Ten, I still cannot agree that Rose/Nine was an improvement in any way on Rose/Ten...that I cannot see. But I will agree that something was always "wrong" with Ten and once he lost Rose...he lost most of his appeal as a person. So, if you would like your personal canon to explain it...I can see it working. But my story is going to go where I always go...into Time Lord biology and the how and why of their corruption as we saw it in canon.

Actually, as I've mentioned before...RTD and I do not differ that much on a boatload of our particulars in the story. I do feel that Rose/Ten is the more intense relationship and that Ten going mad like that was probably inevitable and the Time Lords are not going to come back and save the day at any point in RTD's story. I was particularly happy with his take on Time Lords though I know it upset a lot of my fellow Old School people.

What amazes me is that RTD and I can have the same views on things and yet our execution is so alarmingly disconnected. I mean, I just couldn't even SEE what he did with Rose being possible. So, I've had to spend...what is it now...uhm...months at least, getting to a point where I could even imagine something fitting into RTD's POV. It is like writing to a completely alien concept for me.

But...that said...I have to figure that RTD doesn't ever intend to deal with the Bad Wolf energy in a meaningful way again. It is certainly there for we fic-writers...but I don't think I could write BrownTen as a vengeful God. He's a worthless and hollow person...not a God of any description, in my view. I am enough of an Old School fan to imagine myself going on with Doctor Who at some point...but I really need to reconcile MY Doctor to what we saw in the specials. I really intend to bring MY Doctor back...and have Rose be okay with what she ends up with, too. We will see if I manage to pull it off though. I'm pretty darned tired these days.

As for you Nine lovers…

It’s not just Nine. I’m not an old-school fan, but I’ve seen a little bit of the original series, and so far Ten is my least favorite Doctor. It’s actually easier for me to see Eight and Nine as the same person than it is Nine and Ten. (I do see Ten as the Doctor. It’s just that sometimes his Doctorishness gets buried under the crazy.)

I tried not to bring up Nine/Rose. I think that’s something we’re going to have to agree to disagree on. As I’ve said before, my take on season two was almost the exact opposite of yours. (And considering that Nine’s character arc ended with him embracing Rose, and Ten’s ended with him abandoning her, I don’t think I’m at all likely to change my mind.)

I’m a little confused about one thing, though. Why do you care about RTD’s story? I mean, it’s done. We know what story he would’ve told, because he told it. And considering how much I hated his story, I would much rather read yours.

Why do you care about RTD’s story?

Because, for me, it's the way the Doctor's universe works. I could just pretend it never happened or go off on a tangent into AU land somewhere, but I would much rather make myself comfortable with the reality we have. And the reality we have is that Rose was abandoned in JE with the Blue Doctor and the Brown Doctor died all alone and in a rather self-centered manner.

Eleven, I believe, will go on as if the Doctor never loved Rose at all. And THAT is not what happened between Nine and Ten...Ten most definitely loved Rose all the way through. According to Martha and Donna and Jack he went on and on about her. But then, I am probably inclined to be biased toward Ten because apart from his final five episodes, Ten is my favorite Doctor...and I am very Old School. I do agree he was crazy though, much more so than Nine who definitely DID have a direct connection to the Old School Doctors...as you say.

I firmly believe that Ten was designed to cut the cord with Old School...and he does do that pretty succinctly. I'm just going to explore that opinion more fully (if I can manage to write anything, that is).

Because, for me, it’s the way the Doctor’s universe works.

That makes sense. It’s hard enough for me to walk away from this series after four years. (And I was always more a fan of The Rose Tyler Show than I was of Doctor Who.) I can’t imagine what it would be like if I’d spent a couple of decades caring about the Doctor.

Still, it doesn’t feel like I’m the one who went AU. I don’t think RTD even remembers the story and the characters he started with.

But maybe Moffat will take the series back to its roots. I don’t know.

It is quite, quite difficult to walk away from the Doctor after decades of loving the character. I do think that I have managed to put the canon in context so that I can go on caring about...if not Eleven...some future version of the character. However, I would feel better if I could make myself just reject RTD...I can't though, because I never was much good at rejecting canon...and also because I know that he meant for us to believe that the Doctor truly loved Rose.

Making sense of that view point of his is like nagging at me...I have to find a way to see it...because unlike so many Ten2 supporters...I know for sure RTD wasn't thinking Rose would love him or that he was the same man. I know that because RTD flatly says so in his book...and yeah...I suppose the truth is that he simply doesn't remember the characters he started with...but I do remember them. So...I rely more on ME to fix this than him or Moffat.

Arrogance thy name is...
