I just know that inspired one or two of you to imagine sipping nog from my navel...or David Tennant's navel, maybe. ;-D

Date: 2006-12-27 05:47 am (UTC)So... When's the next time we'll get more Rose/Ten smut? Or, another chapter?
Actually, I caved and watched it
Date: 2006-12-27 08:25 am (UTC)Chapter 14 was going poorly because I was really fretting about Runaway Bride. But as it turns out Russell could have been writing FOR me...he gave me such a leg up on something I was going to claim happens near the end of Disheveled...that I might as well have called him on the phone and asked him to include that part.
If I get Dishevled completed before the new season is broadcast then it will fit in seamlessly with what we have seen so far.

working...working...new chapter by this weekend I would imagine...then smut...YAY!

Date: 2006-12-29 12:20 am (UTC)And you were right!
Date: 2006-12-29 12:50 am (UTC)And you know...I think RTD and I might be about to do the same thing in a way...though he will probably do it with Jack and not Rose. Tune in to other chapters and find out...must now write to beat the Torchwood finale. Sheesh!

Date: 2006-12-27 04:26 pm (UTC)I just finished watching "The Runaway Bride", and I do have to say that Rusty did good. I won't go into spoilery details (for the sake of your f-list), but I think this was just about as good a transition story to post-Rose as we could possibly get. Lots of action and such (Sarah Parish must have had a blast! XD), but in those quieter moments, we saw how much the Doctor was hurting. His last line made me cry...so, of course, I had to go back and watch it, like, 10 times. I'm a masochist. ;)
Looks like (from the season promo) the intro of Martha won't be too awful. The Doctor definitely needs a companion or two, but no one will be replacing Rose. Not ever. I'm on board with that.
Hi, Suze
Date: 2006-12-27 05:19 pm (UTC)The thing is...RTD got it said...he got it into canon. Nobody else has...in the long history of the show...nobody did it in the past...no matter how much old school people want to ship...[whomever].
Lord, knows I could make a good case for Tegan...who had that same ascerbic quality that Donna has. But I'm not going to tell you it was ever like Rose.
And now...all Rusty has to do is rein in his romantic tendancies...and the Doctor can go on pretty much as he always has. He can charm and delight both his companion and fans...touch people, change people, love people...but keeps that core loyalty that we see him exhibit here.
Though obviously...he will become much better at hiding it with a little time. I certainly don't look for Rose to be referenced often in S3...only maybe two or three times. And then...by the time we get a new Doctor...she can...if they wish to go on...just make her part of his history.
"Oh...I loved someone like that...once." It can be something he's done...given himself completely over to hope in the face of overwhelming odds...as lovers do.
BTW...I just noticed I was remiss in not Friending you...if you log-in now...you can see my Runaway Bride review...not that I really had that much to say. I just gushed as I did above...but it is amazing...how RTD wrote this to mesh with Disheveled...like I am a hand in his glove.

who couldn't have had a better set up for my fic if I'd called RTD and asked him to do this for me. As you will see.
Re: Hi, Suze
Date: 2006-12-29 10:14 am (UTC)And I'm looking forward to seeing the new TARDIS set more - already there are some subtle changes which I really like.
If you don't find reading comment in the media too distracting right now, it's worth looking at SFX magazine for a producer's look (non-spoilery) at where S3 is going. Interesting stuff.
Without looking...I'm going to guess
Date: 2006-12-29 01:04 pm (UTC)Which is why I favor exile to Rose as an option. I think he should lay down his burdens for a time (specifically...the time between the next Christmas Special and S4). He's a Time Lord he can always return regenerated...refreshed...renewed. But I think if he keeps going as he is...he is on the path to the Valeyard(look up it up on Wikipedia). I think living a life with Rose might purge the Valeyard from him. Give the 'travelin' man' the home and rest he longs for...then send him back into the fray.

Re: Without looking...I'm going to guess
Date: 2008-04-22 02:54 pm (UTC)He'd always said that if he took the Time Vortex into him, he'd become a monster or a 'vengeful God'. Did him helping Rose by taking the Vortex into him make him a vengeful God without any of us realizing? We don't know how much of that he put back into the TARDIS, do we? Maybe he's got residuals in him or something? (speculatin'....just pure unadulterated speculatin')
In School Reunion, it looked as if he might join with the bad guy in the hopes of restoring Gallifrey, but this newest season (4) is showing him that he shouldn't be able to decide who lives and who dies, that he should let the natural order of things happen as they should.
Time, planets, and the world could unravel because of his selfish decisions and the longer he is alone and without direction from the human race, the more inclined he'd become to give into the idea of the resurrection of Gallifrey and all it's inhabitants.
Or, I'm just talking out of my ass...who knows? :o)
I see you are reading back...
Date: 2008-04-22 03:04 pm (UTC)But...I still think that RTD might be dealing with the issues that lead to Time Lord death and madness. Many of the Time Lords go mad after several regenerations and it is part of canon that the Doctor is going to do the same. This more than anything else could be why nobody makes it beyond 12 regenerations. Maybe they have to be put down like rabid dogs or something. Rassilon was immortal but even he eventially retreated from the world.
I think the option of letting the Doctor go off somewhere and fish and relax every so often might actually give the show and the Doctor a bit more longevity. It could be the thing that lets him regenerate more than 12 times. Also, it opens the door to spin-off novels set during that Doctor's hiatus.
Finally, and most importantly given the New Who backstory...it allows for the rise of humanity to take the place of the Time Lords. Jack's Time Agency is already in the mythos. The Doctor has always focused on humans...maybe he is the logical choice to guide us to our full potential. And part of that guiding us...would be letting us fumble around and try to solve our own problems. Essentially, that's what's happened with Rose...the Doctor Time Lorded her up...and she's Pete's World's Doctor now.
I think if the Doctor went to give Rose a little helping hand with stabalizing things...he could father some kids and also let Sarah Jane and Donna and Jack and Torchwood and Martha and UNIT run things on our Earth for a little while. Sort of like letting your teenagers stay home alone while you take a business trip...sure...maybe they will burn down the house...or through a big party...but they also might surprise you with how competent they are.

Date: 2008-04-22 03:19 pm (UTC)I want to believe...
Date: 2008-04-22 05:04 pm (UTC)I always quibble with television arcs. I would like nothing more than to settle back at the end of a televised storyline and sigh in contentment, knowing I could not have done it any better. And I hope RTD allows me that pleasure.
