Okay...let me repeat that...this is a SPOILER for a guest cast member for Season 3.

And the link here is to the spoiler page. Don't click if you don't want to know. And just so you won't get all twitchy...maybe it's only "fan-dang-tastic" to me.

More about why I love it after the cut

Okay, anyone who read the comments for my story Disheveled knows that originally it was going to be a Rani story. I adore the Rani and believe if any Time Lord was still alive and hiding from the Doctor it would be her or the Master. But I thought she would make for much better drama given she would be the last female of the Doctor's kind. To me that was fic gold and I so wanted to have her kick off the Rose/Doctor shag fest. But then we had Reinette and I was spending too much time with my Rani backstory.

Now, RTD has gone there...and YAY! He's trying to make me watch S3 and love it...which gives me loads of hope on how he will handle Rose being gone. Personally, I want Rose to be mentioned...and I'd like to see the Doctor working on the problem of bridging two universes. Just as a sort of hobby project. It would do a lot for my shipper heart to know Rose won't be forgotten any time soon.

hoping other people were as happy as I am about this. Sexual tension without love...DT should rock. I see her as the mother of those children he goes on about...but hardly maternal...no, not the Rani.

Heh. Ever seen Footballers' Wives? Zoe Lucker is VERY EVOL. Although, I wonder if the Sun made this story up - they are not noted for their devotion to truth.

Well, the actress definitely plays bitch queen to perfection! I love FBW, mostly because of her! (and the bisexual stuff because that so rocks and we'd never get it on American tv).

Still not sure I'll watch season 3, though, with Rose gone. Heck I'm not sure I'm going to like season 2 since I'm such a big Eccleston fan.

Oh...I'm an Eccleston fan, too...but...TEN/ROSE

SIGH! I mean...that's just love. If you accept it early things will go much better for you all around. Were you an old school fan? Because Ten is much more of an old school Doctor than Nine was...and yet, Ten lacks the one thing old school Doctor's and Chris had in abundance...a sense of distance between himself and others. Ten's alien charm comes from him actually having alien charm and not from keeping a polite/mysterious distance. He's a hugger.

Hope you do love S2. As for me...I had decided not to watch S3...because of Rose...because...really I only got sucked back into the Who-Fandom for her. However, if they handle this right...and they just may...I might be able to enjoy Ten alone.

I was never a Dr. Who fan--outside of watching some of scarf guy when I was a kid on rainy Saturday afternoons--but my whole FL, especially the Brits, raved so much about Dr. Who 9 when it came on Scifi I was all raring to go, and it didn't disappoint.

I'm sure I'll like Tennant's version (though he's still an evil little Death Eater to me *g*) but like you I'm primarily there for Rose. I'll see how I like Season 2 (I assume it will come on Scifi at some point).

I do have your fic saved on LJ to read...some time....I'm perpetually behind (hell, I know I have chapters of Sweet Spot to read, too *g*)

That's why my sister doesn't like 10, personally I love him so much that I have trouble seeing the Death Eater when watching GoF, but there you go. I am a big Ten fangirl after all.

Yes, Ten has much more in common with the past Doctors than Nine, except for the personal space thing.

I've been watching a lot of Third Doctor episodes for the first time (the only Old School Doctors I'd seen before were Fourth and Fifth) and he reminds me a lot of Ten, except he's much more low key and reserved. He has the gentleness, kindness, joy of discovery, and sense of fun that Ten has.

I totally agree with this

I was a big fan of Pertwee. Though Doctor 5 was my favorite until 10 came along. Actually, I'm one of the few people in the fandom not bowled over by Tom Baker. I tried to watch the show about 6 times with him in the role and never could stomach it...then Davison took over and I loved it.

I later went back and watched Tom Baker in order and learned to love him, too. Watching the Doctor in order from first to last is the way to do it. I was able to do this while in college. Part of my problem with 4 was I was trying to watch his last few seasons before I saw anything else of the doctor and frankly...the show was very old and tired at that time, in my less than humble opinion.

I, honestly, believe Ten is the same person as the earlier Doctors...which, it thrilled me to learn, was RTD's intention...having Chris play the damaged man and David play the one healed and crafted by Rose into an even better version on himself.

See, it's things like this that make me like you so much!

(promise to review Disheveled soon, I've just been working flat out lately)

I loved that scene where he hugged Zach (that was so squeefully sweet!), though I think the 8th Doctor had some of that same quality, to get physically very close to people (in fact I think it started with 8, carried on over to 9 a bit ("I'll hug anyone" in "The Long Game")). But I think the vibe from the 8th is more innocent, and from 10 it's more knowing (and he's definitely ruder).

10 is definitely a more typical old school Doctor, but if push came to shove, I think 9 is still my favorite (but, as the Brigadier once said, "Splendid chap, all of them!" -- I totally agree with that :)

Yeah, I have great faith in RTD, and I'm hoping he really does this well. Because I'm totally grieving for Rose from both sides--hers and his, and I don't think I could handle it if we didn't get to see some Doctorish grief, even if he tries not to think about it.

I LOVE the idea of a universe bridging side project. I mean, he did mention that the Time Lords could do it before when they were policing Time, etc, so he should, in theory, know how it's done and maybe just doesn't have the man power and equiptment and training or something.

I hardily approve of sexual tension with a villain :D

I thought one of the writers confirmed that there would be no old bad guys season 3...

Also, isn't the Sun a newspaper no one should trust? Was it them that got the finale completely wrong or a different tabloid?

I know I heard that Sarah Parrish would be in an episode. Don't know if there's any truth to that, I just know that I like her. (My obsession with David Tennant caused me to discover other BBC actors. I'm in Canada.)

I agree- fan-dang-tastic!

I really hope The Sun got this one right- that would be perfect! I'd love to see the Rani in season 3, and that is brilliant casting for an evil character- I think she and DT would play off each other very well! I got hooked on Footballers Wives a few months back thanks to BBCAmerica. It's a guilty pleasure; what can I say :)

I've never seen Footballer's Wives

But I like the look and sound of this actress. Many people want old Kate back...but I think that the Rani would have regenerated from the Time War backlash just like the Doctor. What's the point of having Time Lords if you don't let them regenerate.

Some people want the Master back...and so did I...I wanted him back when Rose was still around...to give her some Time Lord rivalry...not as compelling with a new companion. I think the Rani would make a great new Who enemy...she's devious and she works against the Doctor's plans...and she's got that "last female of your species" vibe going...and really...as mother of his children...she'd be spectacular...because he really might have had to steal them away from her to make sure she didn't try to "improve" them.
