Under the cut for spoilers, but before I go...those of you NOT watching, especially those who love complicated dark characters...get on this ASAP! Because I think they just went somewhere no network show has ever gone before...
...Male Main Character as sex trade victim. Damn! Isn't that the revelations for S5...after we love the guy? And doesn't he just go..."I have something to tell you," before we fade to black? So maybe it is just that he has foot fungus and not that his uncle touched him in a wrong way once, sort of like the horribly abused victim of the week who we will never see again!
When that kiss happened and it was proper, because lots of cultures have male kissing, but also sort of hot...my reaction was that James Spader can make any interaction look sexual. He then goes on to kiss the lady on the security detail...and I'm all...SEE? And then, we end with that shot of the brand. And there you go...my buddy Laura can write fic for the next year. Not to mention all of the looping things that happen with Lizzie. I mean, they play the father card. They play the let's go on a date card. They play the "there was no antidote" card. And my SO is rolling his eyes about how this would never happen in real life. But...you know...who cares?!?
Loved Isabella R. what a cast. And I am thrilled that the husband is back in play and being nice and normal instead of creepy. I want him to stay normal right up until he goes all Orphan Black on us. And yes, I still see the places where they borrow from this show, or that one, Fringe again for me...and X-Files and Orphan Black. But...the cast...the cast. My SO is jealous of Spader, and he should be. I would definitely put him on my Free Five list.

(And, yes, you got me to watch the first episode of Blacklist on your recommendation, but it's 'not my cuppa'. James Spader is too cartoon-villain-ish.)

Date: 2013-10-14 11:37 pm (UTC)Ah...I will grant you the cartoon villain stuff. I gave Blacklist the slip last week due to that very thing. However, I still find it entertaining and will try to pick it up again. Castle is still good but I hated the Trope they used in their premiere.
Have you watched Teen Wolf to S1 episode 5 yet? Because so far...nobody has been able to stop watching it. It rocks so much in S2 and S3a. Though there is a cartoon villain moment or two toward the end of 3a, I must admit. But totally intentional as Jeff, our fearless writer, wanted to do a "James Bond" villain sequence. And, now, he's on to "psychological thriller" for S3b. And I can't wait.
