SIGH!

So...they broke up the super-couples and shuffled them around for the re-pairings. Because Lord Shiva knows that they can't just write a storyline that is engaging and believable and let it go at that. Not if they are trying to break up a Super Couple. Oh, No! Because on Days...Super Couples doter into the sunset together.

The only way to stop a Super Couple Clog from destroying your ratings is to hire Reilly the genius. And he will give you some outlandish plot that leads to this silly reshuffle. So? How's it all going for me.

Micky & Maggie meet Bonnie: I want Maggie to shag Tony Dimera. Is that so very wrong?

Marlena & Roman meet Roman & Marlena: You would think this Super-Couple was over...but this is Days...so the moldy dead thing has been exhumed and strapped to the Frankenstein "It's ALIVE!" generator and zapped with "Stockholm Syndrome" lightening. To me...it sucks! Even if I wasn't a John & Marlena fan...I wouldn't find the pairing of still luscious Marlena with dried up, bad actor Faux Roman to be anything but a bad idea.

John & Marlena meet Kate: Okay, there is a chemistry there...between J&K but...but it is warring with my hatred of Kate, my love of Marlena and my few alert brain cells who remember John is hyper-devoted to Marlena. Beyond that Days has only two modes for female characters: manipulative bitch and self-flagellating saint. Belle and Marlena and Jennifer are cut from the latter cloth but so many of the others, including Kate, are cut from the former. In this case, Kate's character just makes the pairing of her and John lack romance.

Jennifer & Jack meet Patrick: What can I say? I love these all of these people. I knew Patrick & Jennifer could work...but I still missed Jack so very much. Patrick is a wonderful guy but it concerns me that there is a dirth of available (non-Super-C) women and that leads me to the next attempt.

Bo & Hope meet Patrick: Amazingly, I could take Patrick here and learn to love it. I used to adore Bo & Hope. But they have been lackluster for sometime now. Bo has been chewing up the scenery since I got back to Salem late last year. He is no longer endearingly rough and ready. He is obnoxious now.

Hope is reasonable, strong, bright and (okay, too skinny but) she would make a much better police commander than Bo. I think it is time she moves on to a new man. Let Bo work out his mandibular muscles on a juicy divorce storyline. Maybe he could become the town drunk...he could rave and threaten and stumble ineffectually around Salem accusing people of crimes without a shred of evidence to back up his ridiculous claims.

Belle & Shaun meet Phillip: So glad it's over. Is it over? Don't tell me it's not over.

I hate Belle and Shaun. What a maudlin excuse for Super-Coupledom. Did every Days writer/creator forget the formula is Bad Boy + Spunky Girl + Spine-tingling Danger + Sexual Chemistry = Super Couple. Belle is whiny. Shaun is a pale shadow of his hell-raising father. They have so little sexual chemistry they can regularly sleep in the same bed and nothing happens...and the danger (a.k.a. Jan Spears) is laughable.

Brady & Nicole meet...uhm...Murder?: Oh, look...it's the manipulative bitch...AGAIN! This pairing would work if it wasn't so poorly written. Nicole is a bad girl with a soft-spot for dim witted Brady. But, as usual, they went too far. Instead of just manipulating and scheming...Nicole is conspiring to murder people. It's not endearing...it's not spine-tingling...we can't condone that...and yet...Nicole is sympathetic in a wacky way. Put these two together already...they aren't a Super Couple but they will be hot.

Sami & Lucas...Lucas & Sami: (Taking a moment for a shout-out to my buddy Ally when I say, "Shower between women, Lucas! It's not only polite. It's good hygiene!") Uhm...okay...where was I? Ah, yes...trying to watch Lumi without yelling, "WTF?" every five seconds.

They are the hottest couple on this show. They don't even have to try to be hot. They are a Super Couple (capital letters) just WAITING to happen. So, naturally, they are wandering around like two steel balls in a rigged Lucky Sevens Pinball Machine. Having no internal motivation as characters, they just bump into parts of other storylines and head off in random directions.

Sami's mother turned out to be a serial killer. This is a big time event that could be used for powerful character development...on some OTHER show. Sami is, for no good reason at all that I can see, convinced the John and Kate killed her mother. She at no time makes contact with the devastating reality of family mental illness that would lead to an Emmy Award. Instead, she decides the best thing to do is frame Kate for corporate fraud. Oh, yeah! Somehow she believes Lucas will love her AFTER she sends his mother to prison? Nobody ever considers the idea that Sami should be heavily medicated for being this delusional. Nor do the writers seem to be aware of the fact that delusional people are SCARY...not sexually provocative...to home viewers.

Lucas responds to Sami's current flakiness (which a brighter bulb would put down to Sami needing medication even MORE than usual now that her mother, the serial killer, has been gunned down like a dog) by bedding some bimbo in retaliation for Sami kissing some guy on the cheek in a bar and not leaving with Lucas when he demanded she do so. In a gender switch, Reilly is hoping the Emmy voters notice, Lucas turns out to be the spunky one.

Rae

For the past several years the writing and characterization on Days has been atocious. Lumi has been the only reason I've been watching for awhile and often I was really fed up with them. Now that Jack's back, I think I'll just latch onto my Jack and Jennifer. Or maybe I should just re-read the Jack Deveraux transcripts from the late eighties and cry over my show that has fallen apart so much.

lolol

Sami's been irrational about John since catching him doing her mom on a conference table. *g* She's totally nuts, BUT, the chemistry between her and Lucas is incredible. Their scenes the other day in bed were hot!

All the older people have gotten so old! I started watching DOOL in 1978 and the same actors have been on since in many cases. I've just come back to it after about a ten year hiatus and it's so funny to see the same couples still together and getting so much older. Though John's still menacing and hunky for an ex-priest. *g*

I'm hoping that the new Belle has some chemistry with Shawn. The current one was great when Belle was 15 and supposed to be a cute virgin. It's getting old. I do like Mimi and Rex, though.

And Tony's semi-bad now I gather? I'm trying to remember what he was the last time he was around when I was watching. I miss Anna.
