So, the finale is airing right now in England. Let me put it out there...

I still think Clara is a granddaughter of some type. Maybe from Ten2/Rose, but I think instead from a restored and pocketwatched Susan. Or from another time line entirely. Something like that. My buddy Kes has stated that something is up with Clara's mom. It is possible that Susan would have been drafted to fight in the Time War, if she was truly a time lord. If so, she might have regenerated or been changed to a human ala the Master and be unrecognizable to the Doctor.

It is also possible to follow my line of thinking in Idle & Blessed and have a time lord download her essence into a bio-identical body. So, the same person keeps being uploaded to alternative flesh.

However, I feel that the Doctor has also changed and we shouldn't ignore that. Clara could be testing him. And I wonder still if the Eleven we have been watching is a fabrication or a copy of some one trying to become the Doctor. And so...he will not know his name...but River will know it. Hence, The Name of the Doctor episode as our finale.

I really didn't understand the leaf thing in this episode. And no support for my Clara's mum theory - but presumably next series they could get into that a bit more.

*pats you and your obsession with the Doctor not being the Doctor*

Hey! My theory is closer to being true than false. They were playing with the Doctor's history, changing him. So...

And, and he wasn't himself...because he finally saw Clara, noticed her. Besides we could still reset him, thanks to this whole in his mind or no-place or whatever it is...business.

But, yeah, probably, mostly, inconsistency in character...thy name is Moff. And, while I didn't have Clara right at all...I was right about Moff taking a very simple line through it all. He always does that. He never goes complicated on the actual solution. He only complicates the story by adding too many elements at the finale.

I do love your theories :)

even if they turn out to be wrong they will still make FAR more sense than anything Moffat seems able to write, lol

Thanks for following my theories. I don't know that I am all that clever for being better at these things than Moff...because Moff tends to be a one trick pony. Yes, time travel means you can cross your own time line. But...there is a reason why the original series insisted that you don't do that. It starts to make things too easy for the writers if they can handwave and reset everything or put their companion retroactively in the entire series.

I wish Moff would write something interesting...even if I didn't agree with his ideas.
