rabid1stGrace, one of Blake Shelton's singers, announced with her very pronounced twang that she was singing a Tina Turner song. But she mangled the lyrics so badly I had to hear the complete melody to figure out that what she couldn't stand was THE RAIN.
Her choice was a typical for this round. After the powerful performances of the Battle Rounds, it was a trial to listen to a lot of these singers. Many of them disappeared into their songs. Others just were not up to the performances. And to add to the overall discomfort, a few singers seemed to be struggling to be heard over background vocalists, who were determined to drowned them out.
Note to NBC, this is no way to dig out of the ratings basement. Put us out of our misery and turn these rounds into a clip show or give the singers more guidance in their choices. Also, fire those background singers.
