I have shown you a video of a very gentle dog playing with a feisty kitten. Here we see a rottweiler having a similar interaction with a very amused baby human.

This reminds me of that current ad featuring all ages of humans laughing. I have no idea what product that ad is for, but I love it. It always arrests my attention.

This vid is brought to you by the news that laughter is not only the best medicine, it acts as a pain killer and qualifies as aerobic exercise. You are welcome.

EDIT to say that the ad is for Volkswagon. And I've placed it under this cut...

SQUEEEEE!!!! I just don't think there's a more uplifting sound in the world than that of a laughing baby. :D

Is it just me, or does it look like the dog is trying to get its scent on the baby (licking, rubbing its head on the baby, etc.)? Like, Immma make this baby smell like me! Go pack!

I hadn't seen that ad before. That is just *fabulous*.

I do think that is definite scenting behavior from the dog. Of course, that is the same as saying "I love you" for an animal. You are mine! Do not go out and get all stinky with other scents. Or, heaven forbid, wash!

I used to love how my cats would lurk outside the bathroom to cover me in scent as I emerged. I was just reading an article on cat ownership and cat language and I was thrilled with how far science has come in understanding cats since my days in animal husbandry classes. The article claimed that cats are quite subtle in their affections, with the head bumps and such. Though I have no personal experience of this subtlety. Cats tend to grab me with both front paws and wrestle me to the ground, whenever I visit. But I could be an exception to the rule. The article was all about scent marking and squinchy eyes.
