Another Great Octopus Caper

I am not sure if this will embed here...but we will see. Octopus is at 1:00 minute into the vid.

Notice how he holds off a rival predator while doing his stealing, too.

NOTE: I watched this on mute. So, I didn't experience the hokey narration and music. Hopefully, there is nothing rude on the sound track.

I saw this on the news today, although without the accompanying narration and music. Smart buggers, aren't they?

They are amazing. What I find so fascinating about octopi and birds is that they defy what used to be accepted standards for intellect. They don't have big, convoluted brains. And yet, they can solve complex problems and, in the case of birds, understand some of our language.

After learning about the great escape artists of the octopus world, I am not sure THEY can't understand us, too. Someone should try to teach them sign language. Perhaps they are all trying to say Howdy! And they only live for two years, which means they must have an amazing learning curve. It truly is alien life right here on Earth with us.

Pi are ... smart!

Cute as 'Pi! I'm always glad to see animals being clever, and you already know I've a partiality for octopi!

I could've done without the hokey music and the speeding up of the footage, but as the 'pus got what it came for -- and without harming the shark, notice! -- I've gotten what I came for, too! Just goes to show, once again, that we humans should respect our fellow earthlings! :)

Thank you, Rae!

You are welcome. I am delighted that I've learned about Pi being so shrewd. And I enjoy sharing their exploits. I did notice he/she didn't harm the shark. I thought it might be planning to eat the shark if the bait box turned out to be empty. But it would still be good that it let the shark go in the end.

As I said above, it is like alien life right here on Earth with us and we don't even notice it.

I actually turned off the music and narration to watch, because I was just in for the octopus footage. I almost suggested it to you guys, but then, I thought maybe I should listen to it, myself, before dissing it. I suppose I should have mentioned that I had muted, in case it turned out to be rude or something. Glad to know my instinct that it was hokey was spot on.
