Many of you know me as the Pollyanna-ish voice of hope...a light...a light...in the darkness of everybody's life. <<--Points if you sang that last part in your head. But I am just about ready to throw something at my TV over the House/Wilson storyline leading up to our final House MD episode.
I should be dancing a jig. After all, I was the one that has been saying we will have a House/Wilson ending for the show...for years now. And Lo, the end is nigh! And House/Wilson is center stage and it truly has been lovely. But those of you who saw episode 8x20 know that the PTB are milking "Wilson has cancer" for all it is worth. We have had the last road trip, the defiant stand, the monstrous steak and loving eye-smoochies over a package of Hostess Snowballs. And then...and then...House sees something on the MRI and looks stricken...or...intrigued...or constipated. What the hell was that slight widening of the eyes into camera anyway? Did he see a mouse?
There was a lot to love in the last episode, but that ending wasn't one of them. Also, my other half has stated that the show has become too far-fetched to be believed. Schlocky, he calls it, and I cannot argue that point. He does not even think "Wilson has cancer" should be a plot point, because it "just goes to show they are out of ideas."
I don't know. It all depends on how they finish. I am thinking more and more that they might finish with a dream sequence retrospective. They could kill both Wilson and House. I have seen the spoiler photos from the finale, but all I think when I see them is..."I see dead people." I can really see David Shore ending the next episode with Wilson on the operating table going into Cardiac arrest. And then, we skip to Wilson is well and fine...and we breath a sigh of relief as House deals with some nocturnal visits from Thirteen and what's his face and maybe Amber...which would be cool...and Wilson reassures him that it just his way of dealing with everything they've just gone through...but in the end...Wilson is dead, too. And...in that case...I would just go ahead and have House on the table from an overdose...and end it on a cliffhanger or something.
Okay, no! You all know I would never do that to an audience of mine. I would never just crap out and leave everyone hanging with a hand-washing, "End it the way you like best" ending. But David Shore might. He wouldn't be the first to think writing yourself into a corner meant you were a "genius." But I tell you I am primed for fury over a death at this point. Wilson as foreshadowed or House in an ironic shift. I just can't help expecting the worst at this point. I've been burned too often by these TV writers.

:)
More seriously... I kinda wonder if there's some bad shit that goes down, Wilson dies, the Cottages leave, House kills 13 per her wishes and takes a handful of pills...
And wakes up and its five years earlier and he's still picking fellows by numbers, sees the error of his ways and smiles with a "It was all a vicodin enghanced dream!"

Date: 2012-05-09 02:26 pm (UTC)I would hope that 13 would advise House to take his own advice and seize the
Wilson...uhm...day. But, it is also possible that House kills 13 as you note and gives up medicine and sets off to wander the world alone, following Wilson's death. The best possible scenario for me...is a psych out where we think he is packing it in due to Wilson dying and then we find Wilson is waiting for him in the car and they are off to retirement together. But I can certainly see a scenario ending with House dying rather than Wilson. He wouldn't go to prison forever for killing 13, because I'm sure she would make it clear that she wanted that. But he might lose his license to practice...in the US.
I suddenly can see House off with Wilson to Brazil, and stressing that he's lost his license to practice "In the STATES!"
