First, I was a huge fan of S1 of The Voice. I didn't quite understand the popularity of Dia Frampton, but I was okay with her placement. And the overall talent level of the contestants in S1, really blew me away. Finally, I felt, there was a talent show worth my time. And then, we launched into S2 and I wanted to share the show with family and friends.

Only, I kept having to apologize to my family and friends. The song choices seemed to be coming out of a trickster's bag. The microphones seemed to be switched off during half the performances. Or, as my SO put it, "These people just don't have strong voices." But still, there were one or two bold blossoms hidden behind the shrinking violets. What rankled me was how determined the coaches seemed to be in undermining the talent this year. Pip was encouraged to sing a song that did nothing for his blue-eyed soul persona. And Cee-Lo overproduced his singers to the point where the "Walk Like An Egyptian" lady seemed to be falling into a pit lined with gold spandex.

And then there was what happened tonight...

Two of the best performers were eliminated. One of them, Jordis, wasn't an early fave of mine. But I enjoyed her very much during the last two performances she gave. Last week and this week. Had I been given an opportunity, I would have voted for her this week. But, the idiots behind the scenes on The Voice, denied me that chance by having her eliminated BEFORE the vote. How does that make any sense at all?

And then there was bitchy Christina. Last week she called Tony Lucca one dimensional, which didn't come across as constructive criticism but rather as if she was put out about something and taking a personal hit. Tonight, I could tell that she was upset at Jesse Campbell, the true powerhouse of her team. Perhaps he was acting arrogant or she overheard him making some off-color remark back stage. Perhaps he really wasn't responding well to her coaching. I don't know. But I do know that eliminating him was a stupid and personally motivated choice that was bad for the show. They made a mistake there that really broke faith with me as a viewer. Yes, I think Jesse gave his weakest performance tonight, but he was still poised to win this show. So, eliminating him was inexplicable!

And now, I only have Pip left to root for in my line up. Team Adam for the win, I guess.

I seriously do NOT understand either of those choices! I'd been looking forward to Jordis finally breaking back into her confidence since I was a fan back in the Rock Star days and after these last 2 fabulous performances I don't get it! And WTF is with Xtina - I agreed with her critique if not its delivery last week, but dude she just ditched her most popular and best artist!

I'm still kinda curious about a couple of the remaining contestants - Chris Mann, Jamar, and Juliet - but I'm just really torqued by tonight's results.

You know, I forgot about Jamar. I do like him. And I fan girl the original Pip. I like Chris Mann, but he's like Michael Buble to me. I concede the talent, but I don't think I would ever buy an album by him. It is like Erin. I think she's talented. I also think she should stop doing Adele, because there is already an Adele.

I'm not sure I'd buy an album from Chris Mann, but there's clearly a market for Buble and Groban so he'd have an audience.

I've been pretty impressed with Jamar so far and I want to like Pip, but he's letting Adam steam roll him a bit much for my tastes.

Everyone needs to stop doing Adele. Her stuff is unforgiving and nobody's actually done anything interesting to it that I know of.

I agree about Adam steamrolling over Pip. Or, at least, I think that is what is going on there. Pip did seem to express a need to do that hard rock stuff, previously, so maybe he's driving the bus to nowhere. That song he did last time was definitely the wrong choice, but he squeaked by on personality. He needs to focus on that youthful charm and the silkiness in his voice.

I agree Chris could sell some tracks. It's just not my thing.
