So, I'm only at...oh, what is the name of the episode...

...uhm...

Night Terrors...that's it...

I'm only up to Night Terrors, but I have an idea about how River Song knows so much about the Doctor. And I am probably completely wrong. But...

...isn't it possible that she is another woman like Rose that ends up with a copy of a Doctor, this time the FLESH one that we assumed melted. And isn't it also possible that she "kills" him in America. I mean, I've always felt it was some version of River in that space suit. Perhaps as a way to fulfill her contract and avoid being executed herself. And then that the later River Song has FLESH!Doctor burned so that he won't regenerate as Flesh and become something even worse? Also, how painful for River to learn that she was duped into believing she had the real!Doctor.

I'm just throwing that out ahead of anyone finding out anything, because it seemed like the perfect solution as to how River gets to know so much about the Doctor...and since the Flesh!Doctor arrived, I assume everyone assumes that's what/who died on the beach. A Flesh!Doctor could cause as much trouble as the Valyard (or Ten Two for that matter) and could easily be behind the whole War on the Doctor that is central to this season. Though, the Silence could be behind that, too. And I feel that a second Doctor would be a cheap way to go with the story, because it forgives the Real!Doctor so many trespasses, but it would be consistent with our story so far.

No need to tell me if I'm wrong...or right even. I will find out in due time.

who posted this after reading a quote from Moff stating that this finale is going to be the most amazing one ever, convoluted and crazy but explaining all. So...YAWN! Here we go again!

There are similar theories floating around and certainly the next few eps reveal more...also the Eleven on the cover of this week's RT looks subtly different from the 'real one' running around.

We actually get back to emotionally convincing stories later in the season - if you ignore the fact that Amy and Rory seem quite content to have their child kidnapped, that is. Sigh.

Latest from the Beeb is that they're cancelling DW Confidential. Also, did you know David and Billie are filming a show together in Margate right now?

We have the emotionally convincing episodes, but the emotion is relegated to that episode. There is very little to no crossover from one episode to another. It's very frustrating and makes the characters very stagnant. One of the best things about the Donna season was that we saw Donna grow into this amazing person (not that she wasn't awesome, but you know what I mean), we've had none of that for the last two seasons.

You know that was one of the signatures of the RTD years. His characters all grew. Rose was just a girl going nowhere and she ended up Defender of the Earth. Donna developed courage and better self-esteem. Mickey also developed his self-esteem. Jack became a hero. Martha outgrew her crush and perhaps her hope that a special man would take her away from all of the troubles in life that she was facing at home. Even the Doctor learned to love someone in a more personal way so there was some development there.

I may argue with the way that RTD snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory with his characters, crushing them low after elevating them, but at least he didn't just go around telling us how great they all were without showing us anything special about them. He let them show us their inner turmoil and so their slow growth into people we could really care about and miss. I think that is what he meant when he said that he hoped we would all cry over what happened to Donna. Because that meant that we really felt she deserved more, which means he made us love her when she was frankly pretty obnoxious in a lot of ways.

Moff doesn't have that sort of storytelling patience. He leans very heavily on being clever and is rather dismissive of character depth. He thinks he just has to tell us that his characters ARE clever or sexy or whatever or have them tell us, repeatedly, and somehow it will matter to us. Or...he doesn't think it should matter if we relate to the characters. He doesn't relate to them so why should we care about that?

I had heard about David and Billie filming together in Margate. Of course, the explanation I heard for that is that Love Life has a limited budget and uses the same sets for things. But if that was the case, I wonder that we didn't see all of the actors filming on that locations. Still, perhaps, Billie and David have overlapping stories and then as we go forward Billie overlaps with the actor from story number three.

I would imagine my theory is not original. As soon as I saw the Flesh, I thought...Hmmmm! But I thought, perhaps, Moff might develop River's sad character a bit more. That's one of the things I find so frustrating about him, he never really DEVELOPS an idea. The other thing that frustrates me is that he keeps throwing everything and the kitchen sink at the screen instead of developing ideas or characters fully.

I'm sure you already know the spoilery title for episode 13, right? If not, I won't tell you (but I'm sure you'll find it difficult to avoid finding out because everyone has being talking about it).

Anyway, my theory is that whatever happens in that episode, River becomes the Doctor's new companion for season 7 and that would make sense why Amy and Rory only are supposed to show up in season 7 part time.

I wish Moffat would show us rather than tell us (or at least stop saying things like how Matt's Doctor is the best at something out of all the Doctors.)

I had thought that River would be the Doctor's companion before Let's Kill Hitler, because I figured she was the regenerating girl or, prior to that revelation...that we would simply meet her as a young woman in the future. I'm not sure about Alex Kingston as a full-time companion, but perhaps it would work. Moff hasn't convinced me of much with River or Eleven, because of his tell not show policies.

I can't get to know River all over again as companion, so I don't see the point of her. The problem with telling so much of a story beforehand is that the audience has no anticipation. Another thing that RTD did was allow characters to grow and change, admittedly the change often failed in their final moments on screen, but he still did take them on a long arc toward being better people. Since Moff starts out of the gate with River is the GREATEST PERSON EVER...we don't really get to know her at all. I haven't seen one bit of true emotion from his Doctor so far. And even if everyone is right and I will love the emotional changes in these next couple of episodes, they still sort of come out of left field. There is no depth to this writing. It is all just a series of clever tricks.
