So, it seems to me as if my speculation re: Rose appearing came true.

That is, that it was a brief projection of Billie rather than a real appearance. And it showed that the TARDIS could replicate people in projection form. I haven't yet seen the episode in question. I am still posting on the library computer. But I did check my Flist and was surprised by the GIF of her brief arrival. "Show me someone I like." And the TARDIS knows who to show him.

The real question for me is why Moff feels that the Doctor would feel guilty about seeing Rose. This sort of presupposes that the Doctor did the wrong thing leaving her, that he acted selfishly or thoughtlessly. That is what some of we Real Doctor/Rose people contend, of course. But I had assumed the party line for the show was that Rose and Ten 2 were finding a way to be together and happy. I am thrilled that Moff including the guilt line, simply because it plays into my hands as a ficwriter and allows the idea of the Doctor making a huge mistake with Rose to be canon.

I know that the Ten2/Rose people can spin this to mean that while the Doctor is guilty, there is no need to be because Rose and Ten 2 worked things out. Or we can contend that the Doctor isn't regretting his choices for himself, but is simply saying that Rose makes him feel guilty because she's a nag or a whiner or expected too much of him. But, given that we see Ten break the laws of time to go back and see Rose just before he dies...and given Eleven feeling guilty...we can infer that the Doctor admits to disappointing Rose, which indicates that for canon purposes (or as far as the Doctor believes), Rose isn't living the happy life with Ten 2, but is just as stuck with her existence as he is with his.

Ten 2 fans will, of course, disagree with that assessment, but I'm taking it to the bank regardless.

I would also like to add, that without knowing anything about the River storyline, I appear to be right about the Doctor knowing her since she was a child/infant. And being further right about River being Amy's unborn child and possibly capable of regeneration due to her time in the TARDIS. I haven't exactly read any of that on the Flist, but I have a feeling that's the direction people are indicating with thier spoiler headings linking Amy to River the last few weeks. I don't call this a real coup because Moff always has his female leads know the Doctor since childhood. It is rather nauseating in my opinion. But it is more of a given than anything. He really, really needs to go to a new playbook, if he has indeed done this again. Don't tell me about it though, because I do want to see the episodes when the computer is up and running.

Meanwhile, as you might infer, I am still without a computer. It is very hard to adapt to this life. I don't think I really could give up the internet for 10 million dollars. Of course, if someone really were to offer me 10 million dollars, under those conditions, I would have to give it a try. But there is so much in life that is computer/internet dependent now, that it would be hard to live without those connection. I would have to write letters to you people. Or, as Jan said, write my books and communicate with you all that way. HA! He's such a card.

Yep, you are correct in your inferences about both Rose and River - at least as far as Moff has told us. Since he's really been relying on the wibbley-wobbley, timey-wimey - ness this series, he may try to rewrite stuff, but for what we know now you nailed it.

I agree with you about the guilt and Rose. Of course the argument from non-shippers will also be that the TARDIS showed the former companions in order because Rose was followed by Martha (guilt) and Donna (more guilt) and then child Amy (someone who's life I haven't completely destroyed). Its one of those scenes which various fans can debated incessantly and can be reinterpreted by Moff whenever he pleases. Sigh.

I would hate having to give up the internet. *thinks good computer thoughts for you*

I am basing my Wild Geese sequel on the timey-wimey nature of Moff, so I wouldn't have him change a thing. I love that he has, so far, played right into my hands. Now, if only my hands would get busy creating chapters of fic and posting them so that I can do more than talk the talk. HEE!

I have no inherent objection to timey-wimey-ness but I'm starting to tire of it as the multi-series arc. For me, Moff is leaving things too long and I'm starting to feel like he's trying to prove that he's smarter than his viewers.

Fic would be good. :-)

Moff has always felt he was smarter than his viewers. To be fair, if he hangs out at some of the traditional DW websites, I can see how he would come away with that impression. LOL The time it takes for people to tumble to some very obvious stuff on those sites is alarming. However, they do come across as hip nerds as well, so he could just be entertaining what he sees as "his crowd" with the timey-wimey stuff. In principle, of course, I agree with him about the alternative time lines. But, I think he goes to that well far too often for it to be playing as clever anymore.

That said, of course, I am going to the well with him, as I knew he would be going there.

How's that for pretzel logic?

Wait - you mean there are people who were surprised that River Song was Melody Pond and will have their minds blown when she turns out to be the girl in the astronaut suit from the first episode of this series?

What I'm more curious about is how we get from River Song to crazy eye-patch lady.

I wouldn't read too much into that scene, quite honestly. It may just be a ruse to remind viewers of past companions before the 50th Anniversary. And I think that the Doctor has a general problem about feeling he ruins his companions' lives - if only because he causes them a certain amount of pain before they reach any sort of ending, happy or otherwise.
