Head...Desk

You know...I am always on the lookout for new David Tennant candid shots.

And I have often remarked on his questionable taste in street clothing. But this outfit really does take the chocolate-coated ginger biscuit.

Just caught up with David Tennant who's filiming on the Isle ... on Twitpic

Words fail me. Except...where is he from in Scotland? Paisley?

Though I can easily imagine him owning both of these pieces, let's give him the benefit of the doubt and assume this is a costume department's choice for him. He is filming Decoy Bride, after all, and perhaps his character is fashion blind, like one of those people at the NASCAR races who mix and match the American flag pants and checked flannel shirts with rampant Bald Eagle. Or perhaps this is a "comedy" outfit he is forced to wear after getting an unexpected soaking.

That he's completely mad, you mean?

Or fashion-blind?

BTW! Your icon says it all.

Oh, good lord! That's one heck of an AWFUL outfit!

And he's wearing tartan trousers, from the look of things? Or a kilt?

ETA: Nice hair, though.

It looks like tartan trousers to me. But I suppose it could be a kilt. Is it better if it is a kilt? I don't know.

He has a rugged handsomeness to him in this shot. Like a man who knows what it is to suffer...as a fashion victim.

I am thinking this film is set in the 70s. Hence ghastly 70s clothing and lousy hair.

I'm not sure that it is a good idea to carry the ghastliness this far...unless this is a comedy outfit of some kind. Maybe he's trying to dress like a native.

The hair doesn't look very 70s to me, though: far too short and tidy. But the sleeves on that shirt (to say nothing of the fabric) ... they're practically puffed at the wrist! Maybe those *are* 70s clothes!

OH my. I am sure there's a good reason for the outfit. I can't fathom WHAT it might be, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He's not THAT challenged. He typically has the whole hipster geek thing downpat.

Yes! I was sort of kidding about him dressing himself in this outfit. I really think he would have avoided that combination. Sadly! I can easily imagine him owning both individual pieces.

MY EYES! MY EYES!

Maybe he's color-blond. Not that paisley and plaid really go together anyway, but it's really the acid/pukey green mixed with the brick read that really kills it.

I'm guessing he's either a) in costume, or b) having a lark.

You, of course, probably haven't seen the pink floral print with Freema on his arm. Or the all check suit? But I think you have seen the crushed red velvet suit.

He is not color blind, but he is a man with a serious "Crime of Fashion" bent.

*grin*

I gather from a post on another LJ site that this costume is actually a plot point in the show.

However, as I've said elsewhere, I think this clearly shows that he is still the Doctor, but that his fashion sense has spontaneously regressed to that of his sixth incarnation!

I can see him getting soaked by falling overboard or something and ending up in this outfit because it was all that fit. There is comedy in it.

I can see him owning that shirt, but I'm quite sure that even he wouldn't combine it with those pants. I'm pretty sure that will be for his role. There's a recent fan picture where he wears normal clothes, also from the Isle of Man. So if in doubt, I'll assume it's for the movie.

How can he still look good in this though??? Is it a gift or a curse?

Surely, it is a gift. I would love to see him in some old burlap sacking. But I do think this outfit is more of a challenge on some levels.

Clearly, the man knows how to Opp Shop!

Doesn't matter though, I'd still mount him with little hesitation.

He'd look good in the den.

Or the bedroom.

Rae
wondering if you meant "mount" in the taxidermy sense...or some other way. My comments stand no matter the context, of course.

No, I most definitely meant mount as in straddle his lap while he's positively naked and initiate penetration ;)

I could NOT care less about his outfit--

WHERE are his sideburns?!

He has a PERFECT face for sideburns. He must just want to leave them behind. The Doctor DID have sideburns, after all. Sigh.

You know, I was thinking the same thing. Also: what's up with the flat hair? I mean, a huge part of David's acting comes from The Hair of 1000 Expressions, and here it's so...non-expressionless. That's just -- wrong. So wrong.

(and yes, the outfit is making my eyes bleed)

I must admit, I, too, was taken aback by the flat hair. It is positively non-Tennant. Yet, I suppose he is an actor and at some point would have to have the hair of a sedate novelist rather than a rebellious Time Lord or sex symbol actor.

Eddington didn't have wild hair, did he?

This outfit was mentioned at our local DW club meeting last night. :) I did a little interwebs searching via the Dogpile search engine, and this is the first link that looked right. :)

Yikes!

Glad to read that this is for the new movie/tv show/something that he's filming. :)
