Day 06 -- Favorite Episode of Your Favorite Show
I am tempted to say Doomsday and see if you people remember that Doctor Who is not listed as my favorite show. I am also quite happy with the episode that just aired on Doctor Who, but I'm not sure it can make favorite because it still has River in it. And the Fez moment. I think that the dividing line among New Who fans might be if you found that Fez shooting funny or painfully stupid. I'm in the later group, I'm afraid.
But back to the Favorite Episode of my Favorite Show. And I am wondering if there is a "Favorite Episode of any show" day? Because I do have a frontrunner there. I will save it for BEST SCENE ever because that was one reason it was my favorite episode ever...it had the best scene ever.
So on Farscape, I am torn, there are three episodes I love pretty much equally. I love the finale, even with the sad parts of it. I loved the one where Crais and Talyn get to make a big statement to the Peacekeepers...I was never so in love with Crais as in that moment. Not that I loved Crais. *looks around at nothing much. What I mean is Crais went big and bold and he was magnificent there. But my absolute favorite episode is the one where John gets the upper hand on the Scarrans in We're So Screwed Part 3: La Bomba. But I love the set up for it in Part 2: Hot to Katratzi.
John Crichton up on a table top at a conference of the Superbad Villians with a bomb strapped to his belt--"Because I am an American. And what does an American want? Democracy? Capitalism. I want to sell out and settle down. For one day only, it's a blue light special on Aisle Three. My wormhole technology... and a free set of steak knives... for all the tea in China. And anything you can imagine to pay me... welcome to my cold war. You must be the Emperor. Now, before anybody decides to get clever, you should know I have multiple dead-man sensors from every culture on my ship and a few cultures I haven't heard of. My heart stops, we all go boom. My heart speeds up, it's boom again. Too hot, too cold, too happy, too sad, thirsty, hungry, bored... it's John Lee Hooker Time... boom, boom, boom. And you try your little psychic trick... kaboom... and we're all pushing up day-glow daisies."
Someone remarks that John is completely insane and Aeryn is all, "I know. Isn't it wonderful?"
Rae
LMAO! Talk about a mad man in a box.

Date: 2010-06-28 05:40 pm (UTC)OMG, you managed to hit most of my favourite scenes. But that is one of the crowning ones.

Date: 2010-06-28 07:41 pm (UTC)And that scene on the table is one of the best scenes ever, but that whole 3 parter was great. Scary and elating and beautifully executed. How cool was it that the big, bad Scarrans need a lovely flower to survive?
I really did love the Scarrans as bad guy. I was so sick of Scorpius by then and they made him look pathetic. But really what amazed me is how the creature shop evolved them from the rather awkward puppet with a plaster head into those beautiful ones in We're So Screwed. Very talented designers on Farscape which is one reason it holds up so very well. If only they hadn't insisted on Rygel. I think his character was great (well except for the farting) but he never looked like anything but a muppet to me. It really did break the fourth wall too much.
