I got this from [livejournal.com profile] thisficklemob who got it from [livejournal.com profile] misscam and someone else.

Spoiler Warning Results from some of yesterday's matches are mentioned in these lyrics.

Again, I must apologize to the French, but this is obviously meant to console the English.

who doesn't know from soccer...is the USA still in it? I've decided, should I expat, to become a rugby fan.

An excellent choice. Far more blood, for a start.

I did decide while watching the hour of USA/England football that I managed to tolerate...that soccer is rather like ballet. I thought it might be enjoyable for the player interactions rather than the game aspect of it.

*gasp*

Actually, I get it. I think in order to appreciate soccer, you either have to have played it as a kid long enough to get a good idea of the game, or have watched it growing up. Otherwise, it's just people running around kicking a ball.

Plus, some teams are prettier to watch than others. I don't recommend the U.S. to win anybody over to the game -- even though I root for us -- or England this year.

If the USA wins tomorrow morning they go through. A tie will also put them through as long as England doesn't win.

I played soccer through high school and my dad played through college so the World Cup in a BIG deal in my family. :)

It is good to have you and your obscure knowledge among us.

So, go USA! Since I cannot possibly pull for a loss for England, that would just be wrong of me.

I got it from the BBC on Twitter. They cover the World Cup with a bit of humour - I like that.

Bit of mocking of other countries is half the fun of sports, in any case. ;)

Oh, absolutely! We Americans mock the English but we mock with love. And I'm happy you shared this so I could pass it on to a few more people. Thanks!

Yes, the USA are still in, there last match collides with England's last group match - might leave them on auto update as I fancy their chances more than England.

That song is fucking hilarious - I've just posted it to my Facebook in the hope of consoling my fellow England fan's who are thinking of the worse.

I just saw that we are headed into a match. I hope we win it. I don't think we can count on England losing. Even though, apparently, England hasn't won this thing in decades. Still, the are not as bad as France. I have read up on what happened with France, but it still doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I'm not sure what happened in terms of playing, but essentially, during the second match something happened and a player called the manager an all manner of things, so FIFA sent him home and the French Football Fed didn't support this play and endorsed sending him home so they refused to train and lost. Suckers.

Best of luck to USA in their match - I really want them to go though, actually, mainly because they scored against England.
