Whoa! The earth is moving, people. I wake up this morning to the news that Hawaii is bracing for an incoming tsunami. Far better news than that they've been hit by an unexpected one, of course. Then, I learned of the 8.8 earthquake that hit Chile. Chile holds the record it seems for earthquakes at 9.7 and is well prepared for this sort of devastation. But still, our hearts go out to everyone suffering loss due to this major quake. Having seen some of the pictures, I can only imagine how terrifing it must have been to be tossed around like those people were. And I know you join me in sending hopeful vibrations to everyone in the path of the tsunami, which at this point does seem to be a smaller wave than originally anticipated.

The Hawaii tsunami is because of the Chile earthquake. It's the same disaster, just on a Pacific water time delay.

I must be a terrible person at the moment because I've got the Hawaii Five-Oh music in my head. But, it is a focal point for my healing energies.

Yep, I was aware of the link between the two events. I just wasn't aware at the time I woke up and heard about Hawaii. I can see how that phrasing might confuse people. They are remaking Hawaii Five-Oh, incidentally, in case you were not aware...so the music could get an update, I suppose. That theme was my favorite part of the show. I learned to play it on the drums.

Former drum skills I believe. I was in fourth grade at the time. Nine years old, maybe. I think the show was in reruns or something, because we didn't have a tv for long when I was a kid but I definitely remember liking the opening of Hawaii Five-Oh and drumming it out for people.

"Global Weirding"

In Man vs. Nature, man's rarely the winner, long-term.

Puts me in mind of the Blakes 7 episode wherein the planet was a living entity and its people were its parasites (that it cleansed itself of, periodically.). Philosophical fleas. Thought-provoking idea ...good Sci-Fi.

My mom, my aunt and my husbands boss are all in Hawaii. I'm a bit concerned but Hawaii is no stranger to this type of thing so I just have to trust that it will be alright.

My sister is currently on vacation in Hawaii. She's been updating all concerned on Facebook (through her phone) all day. She's been evacuated from her room, bars and clubs are closed in addition to the beaches. However, it seems to be a non-event so far.
