I can't believe this vid only had 175 hits. That's criminal and, hopefully, about to change...because it is hilarious. A musical theater balm to the hearts of disenchanted (aka bitter  ) Rose/Doctor fans everywhere. Poor Ten comes off...well...hilariously worthless in this one.
At first, I didn't think I liked the voice dubbing bits at the start, but they grew on me with each viewing and now I find them pretty funny. The only thing I would have changed is that for once...I would have put the Ten2/Rose kiss at the end...just after the Doctor striding over the seatbacks...then have the final kiss and the "There's a time and place for everything"...and his "What?" face. But...well...what did you all think of it?
Oh, and here is the direct link if you want to comment for the vidder or add it to your favorites.

It was refreshing because this wasn't a superfan or shipper...and yet...he writes about how he was drawn in to the emotions of Rose and the Doctor. And he easily sees that they are in love...and he comments on Ten being capable of going "much darker" it seems. His commenters were also interesting, again, not superfans as this wasn't any place where Doctor Who is a subject that comes up a lot...so these were casual viewers...and most of them supported Rose/Doctor and agreed that the show ended on a dismal note.

Date: 2010-02-20 03:54 am (UTC)I don't consider people shipping Ten2/Rose to be Ten/Rose shippers. I've found that it's either one or the other, you can't ship both and say that they're both the same either way, that infuriates me. I ship Ten/Rose, why would I want to go and Ship Ten2/Rose? It's ridiculous. Honestly.
I'm still disgusted by the fact that they assume Rose just accepted him so readily. She got back to Ten once, she could do it again, although having said that seeing her with Eleven would make me want to barf. It's a no win situation, so I'm content in my Ten/Rose - DT/BP world where the possibilities are endless.

Date: 2010-02-20 01:05 pm (UTC)Actually, for those of us who loved Nine/Rose it is exactly the comparison! I was mentally composing a response to Mrs_Roy to that effect, while I scrolled down to read if anyone else had already done so, and -- well, I admit I LOLed to read your reply. Sorry! But truly, the only way to get into Ten at all was to give up on what Nine shared with Rose and accept the parts of the Doctor that Rose found and liked in his newest version.
I'm Old School in that my attachment to the Doctor is ...elastic. I don't like all versions of the Doctor - or all of the parts of each version's story - equally. I might describe it as being in a rather elliptical orbit around story of this character throughout his incarnations, sometimes nearer to it, sometimes remote from it. I have difficulty comprehending how it is that Rose could fall in love with her first version of the Doctor and that her love would remain absolutely unchanged, maintaining the same level of passionate love with & for each and every subsequent incarnation (be it via regeneration or metacrisis). To me, rather than showing intensity, such a love feels...diluted, like a re-used tea bag. By the time we get to Ten2 (and/or Eleven), I can't help wondering what's left of the original ...relationship/bond/chemistry/Je ne sais quoi/etc... for each of them to find in the other.
In fact, if I were ever to write a Ten2/Rose fanfic, I think that's what I'd have to Title it: Weak Tea.

Date: 2010-02-21 02:59 am (UTC)But, beyond that idea of "Who do you like best?", what happened to create Ten2 is totally different from what happened to create Ten. Ten2 could have been Eleven. And I wanted him to be Eleven very much...I still believe that would have been the easiest way to solve the dilemma that RTD created. I also think he created that dilemma because he's male...and truly doesn't understand that people are not interchangable...that you can't do what you are suggesting and cherry pick the parts you like. But, all of that said, Ten2 is NOT a product of a regeneration. That is a completely different process and despite Ten whining about it being "another man walks away" that isn't what we are expected to take out of a regeneration. We are supposed to believe that Eleven is the same man that just regenerated from BrownTen.
As for Rose/Ten vs. Rose/Nine...I would say that Rose definitely liked Ten's parts better than Nine's. The relationship deepened and grew more intense. And given that...well...we have to look at cherry picking ala RTD. And your "Weak Tea" titles made me LOL, because my Ten2/Rose story is called, "Something Borrowed." We are basically following the same thought process on RTD's POV...so then...we must look at what parts went on with the version of Ten that we all watched in the Specials...and extrapolate what parts were "borrowed" by Ten2.
