Am I the only bothered by the fact that they "recast" the faithful dog in Shaun the Sheep? What happened to the original one color dog? I mean, I know he's just claymation, but I am worried that he was "sent to the farm"...rolled out flat with a rolling pin and then reshaped into some shrubbery or some such.

Yes, Dog 2 will never been loved by Shaun the Sheep if Dog 1 is still out there somewhere...suffering (as only clay shrubbery can suffer).

I've tried telling myself that this is still Dog 1 only with a winter coat grown in thick and lush. But he has booties and you don't grow booties in for the winter. I cannot accept this Dog 2 until I know what has become of Dog 1. What's the story?

Seems to be the theme of the week, replacing the original with a half arsed stand in!

Irrelevant bit of nonsense:

I saw a Shaun the Sheep hot water bottle cover a few years ago. I coveted it!

I would have coveted that, too. In fact, I believe I am coveting it right now. I will need to say a few "Our Father"s as an act of contrition.

Was it wooly with a head and feet?

Yes, it was. The whole critter. My friend received it as a gift, and had no inkling of Wallace, Gromit, et al. When I learned that, I had an ignoble urge to "liberate" him from her home in order to bring him into mine ...where he would be appreciated properly. Naturally, I didn't do so -- and as it happens, he's part of an enormous herd. Big business in hot water bottle covers these days? Who'd've thunk it?

I didn't know they'd re-modelled him - but I DO know his name is Bitzer. So that is my random useless contribution.

ETA: I have tracked down relevant info:

Seems like lots of people are unhappy with new Bitzer.

He regenerated. Daleks have been seen in Sean the Sheep, so it's a natural progression really.

I just read the bit about the puppets being worn... reminds me of a book title that has haunted me ever since first saw it. Translated it would be along the line of: "Slightly damaged animals". In my mind it formed a picture of slightly damaged animals thrown into a basket outside a store front with a big sign saying "sale". I still feel for them.
