Find out the slightly spoilery reason why under this cut...

In honor of RTD's final story, my buddy Lisa, aka [livejournal.com profile] nightbeast, had the marvelous idea...

...that every Doctor Who fan could become the Master...by changing our profile pic to John Simm.

What better way to honor the truly wacky mind of RTD than to go along with him on this one? What say you all?

Don't bother trying to shake it off. His name is the Master and you will obey him!

EDIT And now the gifted, Lisa, who is quite right about going to "special Hell" for this, has given me a proper Master/Pony icon.

You're not really trying. You should have a pony with the Master's head.

Meanwhile...Barrowman! (shakes fist)

If only I could do a pony/Master manip! That would be marvelous. Maybe I will give it a go tomorrow. Barrowman is good...but I don't think your obviously crack!Fic solution of having Captain Jack step into the Gate and make everyone over in HIS image...will work. Still...nice rack!

Did you watch the Confidential? I simply had to see what RTD was saying after all that.

Actually, it is a notable first for New Who - three straight male leads and no gay subtext at all (unless you count the Master scene, and personally I get rather bored with the idea that the last two Time Lords can't reminisce without slashy fandom going crazy).

Confidential? Hmm - best thing about it was that RTD made it so clear that the Time Lords coming back should not be regarded as a Good Thing.

By 'eck - things have changed since Two regenerated into Three - you'd never get away with the Doctor just staggering out of the TARDIS and quietly falling flat on his face these days. Somebody would ship him with the grass.

(Since I am part time-lord (it was Tennant's spit when he was playing Hamlet at Statford wot did it) I am exempt from finding a Simicon for my posts)

LMAO!

Ship him with the grass. Absolutely. I did come across a few "romantic" icons of the face gripping scene. But I honestly did feel there was very little chemistry between John and David this time. Probably because John had gone so far around the bend...but I often wonder if David intentionally holds back...like he did with River Song...because of his intense shipping of Rose/Ten. David is quite the Rose/Ten shipper...and that makes me hopeful that if he is happy with the ending, it might be a Pony!

I do agree that the Best thing about the Confidential as that RTD is true Old School in his view of the Time Lords. These fans who have taken over the official sites and yet don't seem to know diddly about the Old show give me the pip and always have. Whenever RTD talks about his own break with the fandom, I sympathize. And I also liked that despite his oft-quoted romantic notions about the Master being the Doctor's "soulmate," that when he spoke this time, RTD had THAT relationship nailed as well. I thought, actually, that he didn't mean "soulmate" so much as someone the Doctor was bound to because of their shared experiences throughout time and space. The Master, as I've said, is the Doctor's shadow self. They are old-fashioned gentleman foes, as RTD put it, largely because of the way Pertwee and Delgado presented them to us.

And I love the idea of them playing together as children on a huge estate belonging to the Master. I always had the feeling that the Doctor was this terribly gifted son of some Steward to a nobleman or, at the very least, the scion of a fading title that had once held some glory but which was now almost unnotable. In other words, the Doctor is a brilliant outcast of some kind, admired because you just can't help admiring him...but if you are a proper Time Lord...you wish you could.

And I don't know if I should envy you being spat on or just go..."EWwwww!"

I saw the idea on Facebook (1,000 members in 27 hours!) and decided to spread the madness on LJ.

... stuck looking like the old Prime Minister.

Ah...I did wonder if you had seen it elsewhere. I do hope it goes viral so that RTD becomes aware of it. He deserves a pat on the pate for such an over the top and entertaining episode as he just gave us.

And, oh, I so hope I can give him a virtual hug after the next episode, too.

You could have a Lindsey Duncan icon and still look like an old Prime Minister - it was no coincidence that Adelaide's house was in Finchley.

Oh! You are incorrigible. And brilliant. You should be posting these somewhere...or linking up...or something.

Though in true viral fashion....we should depend on our flist to spread the germs about to the interwebs.

Get going, Flist!

Weeeeelll, I've asked [livejournal.com profile] who_daily to post about it. I've done some generic icons to share.

And while I'm here...

If the final episode turns out rubbish, we shall call it a load of Whoey.

Shakespeare = the bastard child of Queen Elizabeth I.

Think about it! Is this RTD's big reveal ?!!

I don't know if it is RTD's big reveal...but it could definitely be YOURS! What a marvelous idea? The blood of William Shakespeare (or Queen Elizabeth's Bastard Child) in Wilfred Motts veins...and then...back the the Doctor...so they are all his family. Thereby making the transfer of his job and title to the Doctor/Donna...aka Ten 2 with the Donna heart...very much like the handing over of the job to his grandson.

I wish I did photoshop so I could put Simm's head on all of my identity icons all over the interwebs. I am a social media hoar, afterall. But alas, my art skillz don't run in that direction.

Lemme go see if I can find some nice Master-ful icons so I can play, too.

[livejournal.com profile] nightbeast had now made a Shakespeare icon for someone above. Surely, there are versions that work for you. Spread the insanity. I would love for RTD to hear of it.
