I deflowered my BtVS Season 5 DVD tonight

We didn't want to rush things, get all pant-y and sweated-up before we both felt ready. Took my time, did it slow and easy. Watched Checkpoint. I love that eppy...and I'm not just saying that because it let me have my lecherous, scene-selecting way with it either.

Checkpoint is BtVS the way it ought to be. Humor and hard knocks. How do I love it? Let me count the ways...

Glory suffering and sucking out brains. Those lovable Minions. Buffy nerding it up in college and again in the cemetery as Spike gets the best, last word. Glory confronting Buffy. The scare over Dawn and the determined look on the Slayer's face just before she tells her mom to "Pack a bag." That she went to SPIKE!!! Boy, do I remember the jig I danced over it at the time. Anya's Watcher-phobia. Spike with his "tell me, pet, now that we're such good friends" seduction of Lydia and then later his nattering on about the Initiative putting a chip in Buffy's head "...be funny if they did."

Buffy catching at his hand to get his attention and trying honesty for the first time in her life "You're the only one strong enough to protect them." The heart jolting (they were meant to be) way Spike capitulates, "Well, all right, then" as soon as she opens up. It contrasted so perfectly with the recent Riley lament about her never letting him help. Spike and Joyce sharing their "Passions." Buffy tossing the sword and complimenting her friends. And then the final gut blow about Glory.

Ahhh! Someone get me a cigarette.

I haven't forgotten those VCDs, you know. I just haven't gotten to the post office yet. Sigh.

...thanks for the update. I will now return to drumming my fingers impatiently. ;-D

I was about to say there was no need to do the post office because I postaged up the return envelope...adding for disks...but then I remembered you were sending some extras so...yep...I can see where you might have to go...and how that would be hard given your busy schedule these days. So, don't mind me...just think of me before you leave the country.

I just mailed them yesterday. There's some extras in there, but frankly, not as much as I'd like. I've been packing up the house, and, well.....

Meanwhile, the fateful day approaches. I am an original homebody and cringe at packing and moving or traveling...so my heart goes out to you doing all at once. We should throw an LJ BonVoyage Party for you. Would this weekend be appropriate?

So it's Checkpoint - Good! I spent the better half of last Sunday surfing through season 5 looking for just this episode, but I couldn't find this scene. I needed to see the beginnings of Spuffy. It's easy to forget how many important plot points are packed into one episode. Thanks.

...the beginning of Spuffy. To me that is Halloween (when Dru has trouble drawing Spike's attention away from Buffy on tape). But it is the OFFICIAL he's her boyfriend now episode to many people. Riley was out of the picture and she turned to Spike for back up for the first time.

I just adore Checkpoint...in case you couldn't tell. ;-D

Yay! I adore Checkpoint; I think it's the most underrated ep of season five. So full of lovely Spike and B/S bits. Also, Buffy throws a sword all cool and stuff. Hee.
