What time is it? 8:30

That's late.

Nah, Nah, that's early!

Supernatural night tonight, people. And this is the one that so many fans are dreading. But I have hope that it will be a much needed lighter episode after all of the angst and suffering we've endured for the last, what? 2 years? If we don't count Cas going to a brothel, I think the last really fun episode we had was Yellow Fever in S4. So, let's bring on the suicidal stuffed bears (or wind-up mechanical chihuahuas) and the House of Wax references.

So we open with two guys and James Dean's long lost car. Who believes it really disappeared off of that flatbed? Oh, ick! Splitting headache.

And we are in the Impala, talking, talking, trying not to kiss. Speaking of a car that is going to be lusted after once a show is over. I do love Black Betty. Ram-a-lam-alam!

COUPLE THERAPY -- The Winchester brothers are working on their communication skills. Dean is still being a jackass though. I expect Sammy will crack soon and start yelling at him. I feel that Dean is trying to forgive, but he wants his efforts to be noted. He hasn't changed his mind about his own failings. He's not going to get this right until he lets Sam in.

TANDEM RESEARCHING -- Is sexy! Yes, it is. I cannot tell you how much I've missed those dreamy two-shots of Hoyay! Dean reading over Sammy's shoulder is hot. Jared and Jensen in the same frame...is hot.

HOUSE OF WAX -- What did I tell you? Bound to happen. Cleverly done. But I can't say that this episode is really doing too much for me so far. Could be because I don't find growling Lincoln very scary. However, I do find Sam getting too close to wax Lincoln a little freaky. Jared Padalecki does have the same sort of Lincoln height and brow line. It is a shame they didn't have brow waxing in Lincoln's day, could have done wonders for his image. Also, Lincoln could have used a Bowflex. Wax his brows, buff him up a bit and give him a partner with a pretty mouth and those killer green eyes and to Heck with the Presidency. We are talking headliner at the Ford Theater, baby.

HOT COUPLE'S COUNSELING -- Wincest alert. I don't care how you slice it, there is something so very inappropriate about Sam and Dean when they talk about their broken relationship. I loved you. You betrayed me. This isn't going to work. We can't go back to the way it was before. You need to respect me in the morning. I'm not going to beg for it anymore, Dean. :clears my throat: Momentarily distracted there.

PARIS HILTON -- Making a statement against the cult of celebrity. I don't know. Do I buy this? Also, they paved paradise and put up a parking lot? Haven't we had enough Pagan gods altering reality? Paris is horrid. It is sad when you can't play yourself with conviction. It is also sad when the moral impact of an episode is lost in the lameness of the monster. The funniest bit was Paris filing down her nails with the sacrificial knife. And the vague reference to her sex scandal via Dean's Penthouse Forum comment. The House of Wax line, when it came, was overkill. It should have come earlier, when they had Paris...and a Wax Museum. And we did not need that reaction shot from Sam, becaue it was too meta. Was he surprised Dean hadn't seen that movie? It would have been more fun for him to have said, "Dude, you love that movie."

DEAN CAN SHARE -- So, Sam gets to drive. That's love, right there. And from the way it is mentioned, we know that Sam has always been aware of the burden Dean was carrying over breaking the first seal. I didn't think that was something Dean kept to himself. Here we see what the real rift is about: the Winchester love. Dean and his daddy issues, too. Dean needs to break free of Papa Winchester's twisted family dynamic. Sam needs to break free of Dean, but not in a "run away from him because he just can't stand the pain" sort of way. No, the whole family needs to get straight in the head about how love is expressed. It is the lack of functional family dynamics that leads to the Wincest vibe. Because the way these two throw themselves on the fire for each other, it becomes easy to believe that they have no normal boundaries. Here, we see Sam and Dean start sharing like normal people. This is where I draw the line between you and me. This is what I feel I can take the blame for causing. Would you like to drive? I could use a nap.

This post, I feel is not as happy and peppy as other posts I've done, because this episode wasn't very good. Not funny. Not scary. Not emotionally true. Just, ho-hum! The only reason to rewatch it, in my opinion, is the tandem researching moment and Sam's "This isn't going to work" speech. More Winchester Emo Action, please. And a lot less Paris.

And we have a SOON! Does this mean we are taking a few weeks off? No! No! I hate watching in real time. DRAT! However, that said! I loved the previews. Specifically, it seems they are going to get trapped in TVLand. And I like that concept. I like the motel room sitcom idea. And the mirrored shades of cop drama. Who doesn't want to say Jared and Jensen in mirrored shades? Seriously!

Thank you! I was going to look it up later. But I was putting off the disappointment. Maybe several episodes because we are doing a change of direction. The ratings were suffering...or the SHARE was anyway. Thursday nights are a real cat fight now.

Yep. Definitely a lame episode. I so didn't even remotely care about the MOTW. They did a better send up of people and their idols when the uber-fan latched on to Sam. As you say, this wasn't funny or scary (though I was amused by the nail filing, too).

Tandem researching? HOT. Oh yes.

I can see how hard it is for Sam and Dean to untangle this Gordian knot of a relationship they've got going. Should siblings be there for each other, protect each other, etc.? Of course...but they are adults and it's time to realize that if you are so pained by being separated from your brother that you raise him from the dead...that's a little dysfunctional. Just a little. ;)

In some ways, it is the typical sibling dilemma - how do you break out of the roles that you've been stuck in since childhood? I was glad to see Dean step back a little, not have to be so in control, Mr. I'm-In-Charge-And-Know-What's-Best. Even if it was just the small gesture of letting Sam drive, it's a start.

I'm hoping the TVLand episode is as good as it could be. A truly funny episode would be awesome right about now.
