Well, there is no way to not take this under the cut.
Carrie, if you are not spoiled, wait until after you've seen it before clicking on this, because I'm going to talk about something that you will want to experience first hand.
Wow! YAAAAAAY! Seriously, Fox TV...Nigel..? THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
That was completely unexpected and it really made my day because I was crying like a little girl over Caitlin.
I saw the writing on the wall as soon as we had the final girls. There was no way it would be Melissa and Jeanine didn't really deserve to go after her performance. But, on the other hand, Caitlin's Foxtrot was magnificent. Caitlin is magnificent, in my opinion. She's not a sparkly person. She's sort of self effacing and that may be why she doesn't have the "star-power" Nigel spoke of...but I love watching her dance. She's poised, graceful...elegant. And I can't say that for the rest of them.
Don't get me wrong, I like watching a lot of them dance. But my enjoyment is largely based on the routine.
Except maybe for Phillip. I know that he isn't a trained dancer and it shows in the competition. That tango or whatever it was...was excruciating. I'm not surprised he's gone. But, I am also happy HE is going on the tour...because the few times he's cut loose in his own style I've been mesmerized.
I do believe that this season's dancers are very evenly matched and technically gifted. But there are no breakout stars, in my opinion.
So, Carrie? What do you think? Were you surprised? I must go look at your predictions to see if you had the call.

Date: 2009-07-10 05:35 am (UTC)But I have to confess I wasn't shocked at all by the results. I knew Caitlin was a goner if she was b3 and it was likely she would be. I also thought they would save Jason if either Phillip or Kapono ended up in the bottom. I also think it is kind of disingenuous of Nigel to act like he did Phillip and Caitlin a big personal favor by getting them on tour. The tour has always been top 10 and 2 alternatives, usually the last 2 voted off before top 10. He did the same reveal last year with Thayne and Comfort.
This season is funny because I suspect their are a few break out dancers that have been saddled in bad partnerships - basically Jeanine, Ade and Jason - and so haven't broken out yet.
