A Few Special Service Announcements

I don't know if anyone remembers about a year ago, when I mentioned a local guitar player that I wanted to feature in a vid? No? Well, I said this fella was going places and he is definitely doing just that. I decided not to vid his song because he was going to try to sell it and I felt that might hurt his sales. However, now...I want to pimp out his broadjam site...because I know some people need music and this guy is a great blues' guitarist/songwriter.

The song I was going to vid is "Nothing But A Wheel" which is on the bottom of the list of all 24 songs. But Fatman is funny, too. And Come On Home is climbing the Blues charts over there.

In other news, a fellow LJ-user and frequent supporter of my random ranting...is having a bit of trouble in her life. A little off topic, but you seem to have great skill at finding good videos and I've got one that's been stuck in my head since I first heard the song, but I can't seem to find a good video for it. Check out the lyrics to Pink's song "Please Don't Leave Me." (http://www.metrolyrics.com/please-dont-leave-me-lyrics-pink.html) I've found a couple of videos to it with it from the companions viewpoint of asking the Doctor not to leave them. I need one with it from the Doctor's viewpoint and about Rose. It just seems glaringly obvious to me. I'd make it myself but I would have no idea where to even start, I've never done fan vidding before.

So yeah, sorry for rambling. I just figured if anyone would agree with me on that song being so them it would be you. :-)

Actually, I think you are absolutely right. This is hardly a companion vid. I can't see who they think might have been this bad. I do very much see the tenth Doctor in some of these lyrics. I don't know that I'm passionate enough about the vision to vid it, however. I feel as if the Doctor isn't really bad to Rose. I don't think they were bad to one another at all.

He does push her away. But even in the final moments of JE when he leaves her...which is his most unforgivable moment...he is obviously trying to do the right thing by Rose. He obviously believes she is better off with Ten 2 or would be harmed being with him. I put a lot of weight behind that moment when Davros urges Ten to "show your companion your true self...a time lord who butchered millions." Davros points out what Ten has been saying ever since...that Ten is a bad influence on these people.

The way Ten phrases things to Rose about Ten 2...makes me think that he's hoping to have some wiggle room. He doesn't want to say...here, sleep with this guy. He phrases it in terms of helping as if he's giving her a task. And when she kisses Ten 2, Ten's face is so bleak. Earlier, he'd seemed some what wistfully pleased when Rose touches Ten 2's chest to feel his heartbeat. But the kiss hurt Ten.

who can see the vid moments that one would use though...for this song...like when she says hurtful things...you could use Nine's Stupid Ape comment.

I definitely don't think that he was bad to her at all. I feel more like he's trying to convince himself that he was. I see it kind of as an inner struggle for him where he's trying to convince himself that she's better off without him and the kind of life that forms around him but at the same time he just wants needs her there.

I do totally agree that he let what Davros said get to him and he's been acting off of that. The funny thing to me is that as a viewer I knew that Davros was exaggerating to put it mildly and full of it to put it a little more bluntly. Yes, he did horrible things, but it was never a happy decision for him. The horrible things he's done were necessary and have tortured him.

And the whole turning companions into weapons? Jack was military-ish before he ever me the Doctor. Martha was strong willed and could be a little foolish (nothing against her, but that's how I saw her) but would totally do what she thought needed doing. Sarah Jane has always been tough as far as I know (haven't seen much old Who). And Rose? She came back for him after everything, she's the freaking Bad Wolf, she's strong.

I feel a bit like I'm preaching to the choir here though... I have a tendency to assign fandoms to songs, and as soon as I heard this one I wrote it down as a Doctor Who song.
