Put David Tennant's Well Worn Lips To Use
Apr. 17th, 2009 09:06 amBy now...millions of people worldwide have heard of Britian's Got Talent sensation Susan Boyle and her magnificent voice. Go to YouTube and listen if you haven't... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY
Many people have also heard her touching "plain girl" story of never having married and never having been kissed. I am sure many young man will line up for the honor of love interest now that she's let loose with that beautiful gift of a voice.
However, when it comes to that first kiss...I can think of no better man for the job than David Tennant.
His penchant for kissing Britian's most popular female singers is well established. In fact, I think you can hardly stop him slapping his lips on them once they become a YouTube sensation. I know strong men have tried to hold him off Billie Piper to no avail. It is almost a contractual requirement of Female British singers to be snogged by David. And I'm sure he will agree with me that Kylie Minogue was just a warm-up act for Miss Boyle.

Date: 2009-04-17 04:35 pm (UTC)I apparently am in the very definite minority when it comes to my opinion of Ms. Boyle. I thought she was good, but was nothing like the phenomenal Paul Potts last year. I think all the buzz has more to do with the fact that everyone seems to assume that not-so-great-looking (okay, really not good looking) people can't sing well.
As a singer, I'm always hypercritical of other singers (and myself, too - perhaps even more), so it takes a hell of a lot to impress me. I've also sung that song many times. Everyone says how "difficult" it is, but there's really only two difficult parts (technically) - the couple of really low notes and one long phrase with no break for breath (which I noticed she had the orchestra speed up, so she did it in about 3/4 of the usual time).
I wonder what would have happened if a beautiful young girl came out and sang exactly the same way. I suspect Simon, et al would have been a hell of a lot more critical. Passed onto the next round? *shrug* Probably, but it certainly wouldn't be the same big ol' deal it is now! lol
