I'm listening to David Tennant on Heart Radio FM and he mentions that he loves to ask Bernard Cribbins to do the "Nevermore" of the raven...not the one from Poe but the other one...

DT can't quite remember the exact name...he fumbles for it a bit...but he does have it...

...it was indeed Arabel's Raven.

Said raven is named Mortimer and stars in a number of books by Joan Aiken (She of Wolves of Willoughby Chase fame). I am just tickled pink to hear that BC provided the "Nevermore" of Mortimer with such clarity that David remembers it to this day. Because Mortimer is my favorite raven. Hands down! Absolutely! I mean, there are other ravens in the running, of course. There is the one that comes a tapping...rap, rap, rapping at Poe's chamber door...and the one Noah set loose from the ark (He's won me quite a few quid in bar bets)...but Mortimer is classic. No matter if he's confounding an ornithologist or foiling taxi cab thieves...he's absolutely brilliant and completely charming.

Well...I always knew David had excellent taste!

well, I definitely must meet Mortimer. I'm quite fond of literary ravens, for obvious, writer-ish reasons. :)

OMG I remember that as a children's programme in my youth!

Love your icon! Someone has been listening to DT's interviews besides me. What I love is that in one of them he went to the effort to back Billie Piper in her assertion that he'd only tried out for Taggart 6 times.

And I wish I could hear BC croak "Nevermore." I was disappointed to find that his Wiki doesn't even mention this talent of his. Unless the program itself was named something else and I didn't recognize it.

Anyway...squee for you knowing Arabel's Raven as well!

As you know, this is quoted from the BBC breakfast news interview that involved asexuality. I've made fun of it in my journal, by saying - John Barrowman is fairly gay. He has no inherent desire to have sex with women (though has kissed and cuddled them intimately according to his autobiography), but the sheer volume of women that fling themselves at him reduce his gayness.

There's a small part of me that wants to smack the BBC news presenter up the side of the head. "But what about all the snogging?" he asked after the fairly asexual comment. Er, kissing is usually affectionate, not inherently sexual. Occasionally, in the biblical sense as it's that time of year, it's a sign of betrayal.

For the historical record, when I change my icon, it originally said, "I can't help it if the ladies of the universe are flinging themselves at me."
