Psych/SPN Sly Crossover
Apr. 9th, 2012 12:00 amFans of SPN and/or Psych know that both shows film in Vancouver. This means there is a fair bit of cast crossover. Specifically, the gentleman who played boss angel, Zachariah, on SPN, a lovely actor named Kurt Fuller, also, plays extremely quirky coroner, Woody on Psych. Perhaps because of that, or perhaps because of a recent guest appearance by Rob Benedict who played Chuck on SPN, Psych just did a very sly shoutout to the Metallicar.
In a recent episode, Autopsy Turvy, which centered around Woody, someone remarks that the dead man was picked up by someone in a black Impala. And Lassiter mutters, "Great! Only the most popular car in America." Later, someone is found dead in a vintage black Impala. Though it wasn't the actual Metallicar, fans of SPN will be aware of the fact that Dean's beloved Impala is missing. I doubt any of us imagined it might be on Psych. I was initially puzzled by the "most popular car" remark, which used to be true, but hasn't been true for a long time. But, watching back and noticing the vintage Impala, I do think this was a sly shout-out to Supernatural's missing Metallicar, which is, arguably, the most popular car in America right now.
