I am liberal...politically. I am an independent party-wise. If the Republican party had any true compassion...I might support their candidates. Unfortunately, all I see from them is fat cats feeding on the lower and middle class. Clean air and water...they would rather see more profits for the oil companies. Good jobs...oh, those will come with more profits for big industry. Health care...tax breaks for the small and large business will give them more money and OF COURSE, they will give that money to their workers. Oh...except sending jobs to the third world countries with no labor laws or environmental protection for the workers will mean MORE profits. It all comes down to some people being richer and more powerful than King George of England ever was...and that's not for me.

Oh...wait...I see something else from the Republican party...I see moral ideals spouted as policy with absolutely no common sense attached at all.

There are many examples of this...but...let's talk bumper sticker.

Driving home today...there is this old, smoke puffing car in front of me (obviously an economically disadvantaged person at the wheel...i.e. someone NOT getting corporate benefits on the above policies). Back of the car smothered in bumber stickers: I love America! Kick Saddam's Ass! All Right or Nothing!

...and then...this one:

GOD IS PRO-LIFE

Honestly, I was tempted to get out of my car and go knock on this person's car window and say the following:

"YES, God is pro-life. But...and follow me closely here...God is also...

PRO-DEATH!

He seems to be fixated on it, actually. I mean...death is everywhere. And here's the salient point...as humans...we can't really tell which way GOD is going to go on this issue in any particular case. Some people live...some people die. Our lawmakers are human...not GOD. I say they need to get out of the life/death business...no death penalty...no wars...pro-choice...let's trust God to sort out the big issues...Mm'k?"

...I would have done it, too. But I figured this person also embraces the God Given Right to Bear Arms and it wouldn't be "life affirming" of me to approach the car window.
