...what about this bloke?

http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00389/Matthew_Rhys_389245a.jpg

Matthew Rhys!

He was suggested by someone today as an alternative to Stephen Fry. I am a huge fan of Stephen Fry but feel that he could be a bit past his prime to play the Doctor at this point. Not that I wouldn't love it...but the fangirls might desert the program in droves if we replaced David with a 51 year old, pudgy and greying comedian. So...what about a Welsh hottie, hey? He's just what the Doctor ordered...a young man on his way up in films and such...did some American telly...ready for the role of his life?

You cannot has Kevin, we needs him on Brothers & Sisters. Not that he wouldn't be good in DW, but KEVIN.

However, we know he'd be comfortable playing the gay subtext should future PTB keep it present.

The picture doesn't inspire me, but I've never seen him on screen. What's he in?

I adore Stephen Fry, and would love to see him as a Time Lord, but not as the Doctor. He'd carry off those collars and headpieces with an air.

He'd also make a good villain, I think. Everything he said would sound so lucid and sensible and kindly -- and be so utterly mad.

I adore Stephen Fry, but I think he's too out of shape and past his prime. He might have made a fabulous Doctor in the past, but with all the damn running they've got going on, the poor guy would be dead of a heartattack inside of a month!

Matthew Rhys? Heh. That outfit looks garish enough to be Doctorish! lol

That's totally the guy from Brothers and Sisters. Wow, I'm really impressed with him finding out that he doesn't have a natural American accent.

I think he should totally ditch Brothers & Sisters if he's offered Doctor Who. That'd mean instant fame all over the UK, with the freedom to work on tv movies in the filming breaks inbetween.

Cackling Villian:"We have you now, Doctor!"

Screaming companion: "Oh Doctor, whatever can be do to escape?"

Doctor: *Vrrrpppthrppppp*

Villian:"Oh thats Foul!" *Gags*

It's definitely weird going to see a new Doctor prancing about. :o) I'm excited for it (still hoping they clear the other things up of course). I recently just watched the deleted Bad wolf Bay scene from Journey's End. Where the Doctor gives the chunk of Tardis, it was weird, like it didn't fit AT ALL with the original cut. So out of place, it gave me a very foreign feeling. Like watching something disturbing but you can't pin point why it is.

I'm rooting for Robert Carlysle, but my heart is pretty well ground to a nub by DT going after such a long stringout of obfuscations. But I want to keep loving the show, so I just hope they choose someone I can even begin to feel as fond of.
