Doctor Who Children in Need Special 2008

This post contains one HUGE Doctor Who casting spoiler...and a mention of something in Torchwood.
And a lot of random speculation on my part...please do not spoil me for Christmas 2008 or the Specials. If I want to know something...I can go find out for myself.
Please do not spoil me.
The big spoiler is that apparently they are in talks to have all 7 surviving Doctors in one short special. I started to think about how that is going to work since the Doctor doesn't age according to the most recently aired episode...and more to the point DIDN'T age in the past before regenerating. We do have Tom Baker in the Leisure Hive, looking quite old at 700 and we have him looking older in Logopolis, too. We did have DT aged by the Master and Seven looked older when he died. I suppose they could make some excuse for Peter Davison. But poor old Colin Baker...? How to explain him...
So...I'm thinking it's a dream sequence of some kind. The Doctor accessing his previous selves in a trance or via some alien gizmo that's also curing his sinus infection.
There is the book canon idea that the entire Matrix on Gallifrey was downloaded into the TARDIS...or the Doctor's mind...when Gallifrey was destroyed. This would mean he would have the Valeyard and his other selves in his head.
The interesting thing is how this peak into the past merges into my idea of a Dickensian Christmas episode. More and more we see a sort of Ghosts of the past...Ghosts of the future...Ten reconsidering his ways in the middle sort of set up for things...still...I don't know that CiN will give us anything but good cheer and fun...so I imagine it will only be nostalgic commentary we get.
But...I like the way the rumors are shaping up...Torchwood seems to be going the way it should go, too.<<--Again, really just based on a photo of Gwen and someone telling me the creatures I said would be coming back...are coming back...at least, she seemed to think so.

Date: 2008-10-14 04:17 am (UTC)But still...there's the fact that Five and Six were young looking when they regenerated. And Four didn't look like he does now.

Date: 2008-10-14 06:45 am (UTC)From what I have seen over the years on this show the only consistent thing that remains is the fact that the writers move "facts" around to suit the immediate plot line needs ...0__o
