If you are not watching Secret Diary of a Call Girl 2

You are missing out on something really entertaining. You might be remembering last season when the show was...well...dull and unfunny. Then, the only reason to watch was Billie Piper's ability to tweak the heartstrings. This year, I had a chance to watch the first episode but I blew it off. But I had nothing else to do on a long layover...and suddenly I'm thinking of Belle and WHOA! The first episode starts out with that humor and intrigue that the first series only managed to get going at the end.

I really think that those people still put off by the idea of kink are missing something special here. Bill is gorgeous and the show seems to have hit a nice balance of awkward and ballsy. I quite enjoyed it.

I haven't watched it yet, but I just finished downloading the first season and will be getting the current episodes (to date) shortly. I have no idea when the hell I'll have time to watch them, but at least I'll have the episodes available!

The first season starts out quite bad. I wasn't sure I could go on watching it. And I was rather upset about some of the kinkier things...as they really seemed to add nothing to the story. Billie, however, began to have real influence on me as an actress. I think I knew this from the early days of Rose. Because I went in predisposed to hate Rose for being the chav that stole my Old School Doctor from his true love, Tegan.

Yes, I was a delusional Old School fan. But, in my defense, I didn't cling to my delusions once I saw the possibilites in the Rose/Doctor storyline. And also...Billie started to creep into my heart long about Dalek...and she had me completely (just like she had the Doctor) by Father's Day.

With Secret Diary...I started to perk up when they started letting Billie play off Belle's buddy Ben. <<--Jeepers that's a lot of B's! :grin:

Billie does a great job with wistful but she also has warmth and a genuine sense of humor that come through even when the script isn't very witty. She manages to find ways to make poor material richer...and the first episode of the new season...gives her something to work with that's not just windowdressing on kink. And yet, people hearing the stories would have more depth of character and less raunch has led to a ratings decline.

Or so they say...I put my recommendation up because it could be that people were like me...and just didn't want to see Billie suffer through this awful material while 6 months pregnant. I can say for those people that she's not really suffering in the first episode...and she looks stunning. They didn't have to use the body double much for this one...as far as I can see. She was at the "cover your bump with a clutch purse" stage.

I've been downloading it, and it's hilarious. I almost died when she was at lunch with Alex, and she still had a bit of marker on her upper lip, and she tried to explain it away VERY poorly. See, I'm laughing all over again.

Sometimes so awkward I have to pause it, but it's worth it.

And Alex is hot.

Alex is very hot. I'm a Ben fan...but when it comes to someone like Hannah, it is fine to have a number of interesting men around her. She is completely in character as a serial romantic...if you can get her to even dabble in romance at all. I thought it was very funny this time, as well as touching. I feel so bad that it isn't getting the ratings it deserves now that it's doing better from a story angle.

Ooh, I've been waiting to hear some feedback on S2. I have yet to start watching, but I did enjoy S1, so I'm glad to hear S2 has your stamp of approval so far. :D

I think the show really improved the personal life. Before for me, everything came to a sudden halt when it wasn't about Hannah's job. Now both of her lives are mixing into eachother, which makes it interesting to watch her keep them separate.

Also, her current work difficulties puts the spotlight on an interesting attitude Hannah has. Belle messing around with another woman's husband husband is not her problem. But, that all changes when she gets to know the woman in question. Or alternatively, she has difficulty working when she realizes that she's in love with her boyfriend. Those are contradictory attitudes.

I'm curious to see how this season will end for Hannah.
