Normally, I don't get too political here...it doesn't work and people just get all kerfuffled. But seriously, at this point, the special interest corporations that run this country have gone too far.

This bailout is taking money from the same people who can't pay the money...Joe P. Taxpayer. This is classic indentured servitude. And we need to make DAMNED sure there are regulation strings attached to this bailout...because it isn't going to work without them. I am saying this in the same spirit that I said putting those phone answering machines in when you used to talk to a person...would lead to this moment right here...this very collapse. You can't cut costs and increase profits by cutting out the workers...because the workers...ultimately...buy your products with the money you pay them.

And you can't save the economy by taking money from the taxpayers and giving it to the businesses that are exploiting the taxpayers so that the businesses can just go on exploiting. This is like Daffy Duck putting up an umbrella to save himself from the anvil. Now is the time to insist on regulation for big business. Now is the time to hold back the money and demand we get something for it.

Mr. Obama has a few suggestions...

Call your congressperson...and say we want quick action and we want regulation to make sure this doesn't happen again in 6 months.

The Congressional Switchboard numbers are (202) 224-3121 for the Senate and (202)225-31221 for the House. Call and ask for your state's members.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi: (202) 225-4965
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid: (202)-224-3542

My heart goes out to you. Maybe you can try some nearby congressperson. My congresspersons are not taking calls...how's that for writing off the taxpayer?

Senators are Congresspeople. :-p

But thanks for the link. My congresspeople haven't gotten back to me about the Department of Health and Human Services changes I wrote to them about yet, but I think this deserves another letter anyways.

Yes, I know...but I decided other people might NOT know. Silly of me, I guess.

This whole bailout thing seems supremely unfair to me, because people who get stuck with mountains of medical debt can't go out and declare bankruptcy anymore. How come the big banks get to when we can't?

This is yet another reason Obama needs to win. I seriously believe he can fix this mess. Although I feel for him, its quite a mess.

BTW I love your politics!
