What else is on? Not about DW S4 at all!
Jul. 18th, 2008 09:57 pmSo...I'm trying to think about the new fall season of TV...and if I will be watching much of it. I am looking forward to Chuck and House this coming year. I think both shows have really good places to go with the set-up from last year. I'm guardedly looking forward to Heroes...because the ads look good and because we have been assured that the producers learned their lesson over meddling with a winning format. I hope this time they will be back to quality over quantity. Certainly, they seem to have a good idea...and I did like that dark haired Claire and scarred Peter scene. I'm not getting jazzed up about it...I'm just saying I liked it.
The big question for me is The Fringe. Do I want to walk down that lonely J.J. Abrams road again? Does he have a plan? Really? I don't think he does. I really don't mind stories with no plan...like Chuck or Monk or Psyche...but I hate when they PRETEND to have a plan and don't have one.

Date: 2008-07-20 03:55 pm (UTC)I am trying to have fun with it again. If I let RTD get me down then everyone else in the world can be an enemy. You can't give them that power. Thats why I haven't left the fandom just yet. I wanna have fun and I don't want anyone to have that control over me.

Date: 2008-07-20 05:06 pm (UTC)I don't think this 10 is a well man at all...and I can see that what they can do is give him Jenny and River and his people and he goes on...but I don't go with that scenario...at least not for a few more years.
So not with Moffat. But...if I am right...and we are going to send 10 off in that human body...then Moffat has 11 (10.2) to mold into a healthy man...THAT I believe and will happily watch.

Date: 2008-07-20 05:13 pm (UTC)1) That Rose was imagining she was special in School Reunion but she wasn't and he would leave her on the side of the road one day.
2) That Rose was pressuring the Doctor into domestic life in The Impossible Planet and NOW he was going to teach her a lesson.
3) That Rose was horrible for the Doctor because she made him so "un-Doctor" like...or, as I like to call it, happy!
4) That Rose was finally gone in Doomsday and good riddence...we will never be seeing her again.
5) That Martha was the new companion and so we should just let go of Rose now and there was no way that Rose was going to be mentioned beyond the first episode.
6) That the Doctor obviously DID love Martha now and that Rose was just one in a long string of women that he loved.
7) That Donna was here and now the Doctor was healed and no longer lonely and now he could go happily on.
And now...8) That this is the right and proper ending for this story and that Rose has what she wanted or she has someone to take care of or she is finally settled in her new world and we won't be hearing from her again.
They are saying that THIS is where the entire story was going all along...and I don't buy it. I just don't. Because the Doctor is still unhappy and alone...and he is only having that life he always wanted by proxy. And Rose can't possibly believe he is fine now.

Date: 2008-07-20 07:03 pm (UTC)The ending is wrong and it can be fixed in the specials or Moffat can do what he's always done and flip off the BBC and RTD, giving us the right ending.
RTD always made it known that the Doctor loved Rose. However, remember when you said Moffat didn't understand RTD's Doctor, I think this is what he didn't understand. Why can't the Doctor have his Rose? It would explain why he wasn't allowed to touch the D/R saga. He even had a Rose wannabe (Reinette) where the Doctor almost threw everything down to stay with her. Moffat was ready to work with Spielburg. In fact it was all he talked about, but I think this ending had him rolling up his sleeves thinking "I guess I have to save the day".Spielburg didn't fight it, Moffat said "he understood the situation" and that he was a big fan too. Maybe Master Spielburg threw in his own opinion. Spielburg loves his movies to end happily.
