Westley: Hear this now: I will always come for you.
Buttercup: But how can you be sure?
Westley: This is true love - you think this happens every day?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Buttercup: You mock my pain.
Westley: Life is pain, Highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Buttercup: We'll never survive.
Westley: Nonsense. You're only saying that because no one ever has.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Grandpa: She doesn't get eaten by the eels at this time
The Grandson: What?
Grandpa: The eel doesn't get her. I'm explaining because you look nervous.
The Grandson: I wasn't nervous. Maybe I was a little bit "concerned" but that's not the same thing.
And really...I would like a bit of fandom history born out of this...I think we should add to "jump the shark" and "nuke the fridge" and all start calling this sort of thing..."The Humperdinck."
The Humperdinck...when you literally don't know what to think or feel about something...I haven't seen HANCOCK...but I hear there is a twist in it that gave lots of people the Humperdinck!
Consider me signed up.
The Humperdinck isn't always a bad thing...it's just an unexpected, knocks your socks off twist...that makes you go OUCH! Yes!
RTD gives us the Humperdinck a lot, I'm thinking. The fauxRegeneration is another example of it.
He also loves to make us shit bricks. Its what I've loved about him. I hope he's just doing that again. I hope its because we've seen all his tricks and now he has to come up with the best one yet. Maybe its like the magician that makes the Statue of Liberty disappear because we've seen him pull so many rabbits and doves out of his hat. He got us so many times he has to come up with something not even we, the ones who know all his tricks, would expect. Or maybe he's like a disgruntled fastfood employee. He's been at this so long that he finishes it half-assed and is done with it.
I pity his poor mother. He must of been a terror to raise. I bet his teachers couldn't get him to behave. Weather or not this is the end of the story, the backlash from the fans is giving him a hard on.
Well...also...I think if he is doing what I see the storyline doing...it's a big deal for Doctor Who and he needs to let us see EXACTLY why it has to be done.
I fully support your use of this term. And I love that The Princess Bride can so completely sum up my feelings about Journey's End. I can't believe I didn't see it before. And I'd like to add that your posts about there still being even the tiniest bit of hope for the Doctor are what's reminded me to keep hoping.
Thanks Rusty for giving us the Humperdinck in so all-encompassing a manner that it had to be named.
