One final DW Finale Crack!Speculation
Jun. 27th, 2008 08:13 pmSo...I suddenly got very apprehensive about the finale...yesterday. All of my hubris and overt confidence drained away.
However, a new day has dawned...and I'm almost recovered. And I've thought of another crack!spec theory.
What if RTD actually went with the Looms idea?
Those of you familiar with book canon will be aware of the whole concept of the Looms. The concept is that Time Lords breed by combining their DNA via...I don't know...cosmic weaving. This is tied into Susan being the Doctor's granddaughter but one generation removed. I know...I know...it all seems needlessly complex and more than a little ridiculous, too. But...the idea is that before we had THIS Doctor...there was another...called, The Other. And The Other was Susan's REAL grandfather. But after he was Loomed...he came out as OUR Doctor...and Susan recognized him.
Anyway...I tend to think of that as the main reason I don't read the books and don't think of them as canon.
Which makes this theory of mine all the more cracktastic! Because...well...I keep coming back to the Doctor's hand...and 4 episodes in 2009. And all of the dimensional walls coming down...and River...and I can't help thinking we might be looking at a situation where multiple Doctors come in handy (Get it? Handy! :snort: ).
So...what if Donna and the Doctor's hand...got loomed somehow? Why do we need Donna? I don't know...because the process needs a living host...all the other aliens needed human hosts. He's half-human on his mother's side...maybe that's what it means...he was loomed out of a human woman. So...we loom him again...and have multiple copies of Ten...each sent off to his own universe. Then we could always have Ten stories...of course...from any universe. So David Tennant gets his shot at immortality...and any future show runner can reset the universe however he likes, too, and not make David irrelevant.
And really...I tell you...if RTD makes the Looms canon...and relevant...he will deserve to go down in legend and song. I will personally write him a song. What rhymes with Lungbarrow? Tonguearrow? Bungmarrow?
