...or a DW S4 Speculation Bridge Too Far.

One more crack!Donna theory for the road. Spoilers for S4...but really...I don't think we can call much of this bit spoilerish.

Someone mentioned the old pocket watch idea in one of my last two posts and I refered that someone to my older "She's the Rani" post...which was based on that very idea. That Donna has a watch and is a hidden Time Lady. The Rani idea was that she was actually the Doctor's Time Lord Wife, the Rani*, who always had red hair in Old School.

And you know...that is still a possiblity on the books. Even at this late date...it works for me...but...bringing it up again made me think of something even more crackified.

What if we ARE in a parallel reality already...? Something I've purposed before...based on the fact that our Earth is nothing like the DW Earth. So...that would mean the Time Lords are still alive...in some other reality...and our Doctor was the one who was thrown clear. And what if...when thrown clear...he found himself in a reality with himself. Only in THIS reality...he's female?

In other words...what if Donna is the REAL Doctor for the universe we've been following along with in New Who? What if River knowing his name...meant...she's HIM from another reality?

Now that...THAT...my friends...is crack!Spec! :-D

*Okay...the Rani is not officially his wife...I made that part up. But, again, she COULD be, because it works in the known canon.

I think it will be...I am actually terrible at figuring out what RTD will do with his plot elements. All I think I have a handle on is that he loves Rose and wants a happy Rose/Doctor ending to all of this...and he's taken all the logical steps he has to take to have a happy ending to his love story, too.

As for what it all means...I'm sure I will be surprised...and I hope I will be delighted.

It really says that we've gone quietly mad, though...I hope you realize that.

Well I think this post wins for more crack!spec by you in recent months. ;) Haha, that said while its completely outrageous there is nothing to say its not true which amuses me even more. I guess we'll just have to see. Although I was kind of attached to the idea that Rose Tyler was a product of our Earth...

I would like to think of her that way, too. But I did sort of like the way she knew more than she was telling in Left Turn...RTD suggested she was from the future and so knew what Donna was to be or become. And that made me wonder who sent Rose back or into that alternative dimension...was it the Doctor? Or the other Time Lords?

Maybe Rose going to Pete's World helps the Doctor's people find him...and somehow...I just feel that Donna is going to set him free.

Though HOW she sets him free...I can't say and I feel will be a surprise...I'm just in the dark really...except for the overall push toward the idea of getting the Doctor a new...probably human family...which is pretty clearly the subtext this season. And I can't shake the feeling that Rose is for all intents and purposes...already his wife.

Their relationship is definitely almost more involved and deep seated then some marriages so I don't consider it much of a stretch to think of Rose as his wife. I'm just really, really excited about seeing the Doctor/Rose interaction with Donna observing. But most of all, I'm euphoric over the potential for Doctor-Rose-Jack interaction. Probably won't get it but one can dream. ;)

Well...I must say...given the tear on her cheek...I am looking forward to the REAL Rose seeing Jack again. I'm sure he is going to be elated to see her. But I am really looking forward to the Doctor getting his first...look...touch...taste...of her again. ;->

who thought it was cute and fitting that DT has added in some tongue work this season but only like sticking his finger in and then tasting it...like he's still all about licking only around Rose. I would love for him to lick something when she's nearby again.

When she was talking about the Torchwood team stopping Atmos I was nearly bawling and they weren't even on screen. I'm sure Jack will be ecstatic to see her again.

Oh dear. Now you've got me thinking about the Doctor licking things...

random love-rose ramble with a question

Pardon the intrusion, I love your work and I am a devoted fan to your theories. God I hope it all works out with Donna taking over and the Doctor having a break, we all need it.
I have a question. When you are talking about the tear on Rose's cheek, is that the scene where the Torchwood team saves the day and the sky lights up? I was hoping to see some tears when Donna asked her if she wasn't going to die. That's what I love about Rose she has such compassion for life, throughout the series you saw her sad or crying many times when confronted with death. Still, you saw the sorrow on her face when she said "I'm sorry" but she's grown up so much. :3

Yes...when she is talking about Jack

Rose is looking up at the sky and then she looks down again and there is the single streak of a tear. One assumes that Rose, like the Doctor would, knows that all of this is not the real world and so is not so overcome by grief that she can't do her job. And yet, she is moved by the mention of Jack.

I really am interested in where Rose was coming from...her Torchwood...? And if so...is she trying to just hit the proper reality where the Doctor is?

Two thoughts. I'm just catching up after a few days away.

The Medusa Cascade...the army hidden, buried within a hill until they are called out at the hour of need is a mythic trope (stories of King Arthur's knights at Alderley Edge or Glastonbury, and Tolkien used something similar in Return of the King.

And I'm still intrigued by the "We are so not married," running gag. What if the Doctor could leave Donna to do his work, but only if he married her and gave her his name? She gains the longivity of a Time Lord, possibly a sonic screwdriver and the bittersweet pleasure of seeing the Doctor, whom she clearly loves in her own way, wander in and out of her life as mentor and friend (but probably not lover).

Now think of River Song, and her reaction when she realised he was travelling with Donna - she appeared to know Donna's fate but was definitely not prepared to discuss it.

Oh...are you saying the Medusa Cascade is a real literary reference? Or are you wondering if it is something along those lines? I think the lines you are thinking along now are the first lines I thought along...that the Time Lords were somehow hidden...like the Dalek fleet was hidden. And then when the watch idea came forward...that THAT was how they were hidden. But I don't know at this point...it seems to me we need another time lord or two...but I'm not sure that bringing them back is the best idea for the show.

Lots of people think the Doctor would be happy...I think it would only set him free of his obligations...which is also good...and, of course, he WOULD be happy that they weren't all dead...but I don't see him suddenly settling into Gallifrey life...as he never did fit in there.

As for the sharing of the name...and the idea of marriage...yes...that is sort of the idea of marriage...it's not about love...certainly not to the Doctor. But it could well be about sharing name, past, history and stuff...it could be a marriage of the body as well...if the ability to regenerate is involved. And really...I can't help smiling at the idea of the Doctor telling Rose he loves her and then turning to Donna and asking HER to marry him.

It's just funny.

As for River knowing...River is from the Doctor's future...and RTD let it slip that Rose has come from OUR future...which does sort of mean she's not dying. At one point when I was musing about Rose returning I thought she might introduce herself or be IDed or something as Mrs. Smith and the Doctor would automatically assume she and Mickey were married. Then...it would turn out...she was actually back from the future and the Doctor was her Mr. Smith...but, of course, she couldn't tell him anything for fear of ruining their timeline.
