I have this little story I was working on for the Happy Ficathon...the one back in May! Yeah, that's right, baby! My muse is on vacation.
So this story is now part of ANOTHER challenge...one based on the episode Age of Steel...since it comes after AoS. But it has just refused to work for me, POV-wise. Yes, again. It wants to go Rose POV (or even 1st person Rose) and I want it to stay Omni (or go Doctor POV)...but oh, noes!

Date: 2008-06-07 02:12 am (UTC)Your muse needs a vacation. It's depleted from the herculean effort that was "Disheveled" and it must find a nice sandy beach near clear blue water where it can recharge its batteries. Sun-block should be used so as to protect the muse from being burnt or otherwise exposed to harmful UVA (ultra viscous artron) or UVB (unripe venezuelan banana) rays.
To allow your muse to be fully immersed in its therapy, you need to distract your active mind.
I recommend the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. This was my first exposure to the "romance novel", but it does come with a minor warning: it contains time travel and Scottish characters.

I am working on an original piece with a Scottish character. I shall insist on them casting David in the part even if he is 85 when it is finished. :snicker:
The POV issue seems to be sorting itself out.

who knows her muse is on that sandy beach.

House isn't my doctor though...because I'm not that desperate.

Date: 2008-06-07 04:16 pm (UTC)Has anyone else snagged AoS? If so, then fight your Muse for POV. It doesn't matter if you don't meet the deadline because someone will be posting on the day.
I don't have the health to fight my muse's POV. I got snared badly by a Ten/Donna 'marry or die' plot bunny, with added 'shag or die.' To say it was a left field pitch would be an understatement. To begin with, I blocked the banter and the credible reasons for the situation. But the closer I got to the smut, the quieter my muse got. Neither Ten nor Donna wanted to speak to me, and being a virginal smut writer... an asexual to boot!
Donna eventually spoke up, because this is her story. Ten is (or is planned to be) getting smut elsewhere. My Muse inspiration came while I was singing along to the Blackpool songs/music videos. From the caricature choreographing I found an extrapolation point, and probably released some tension with my cat-wailing sounds. Donna has fumbled her way through it with me, and I'm very proud of our achievement. :)
