This Just IN...I suck at personal POV
Mar. 6th, 2008 11:01 pmI know...I know...you are all waiting for Disheveled. And Wild Geese was supposed to be ready quickly. The good news is I have about 10 pages. The bad news is...I suck at anything but Omni POV.
You may have noticed that Part 1 of Wild Geese is from the Doctor's POV...and it's a short fic...maybe 25 pages total. So, it should ALL be in the Doctor's POV. But...I've worked for days on Part 2 and I still can't get him to actually HAVE sex with Rose. He's dancing around it. And he's being diffident about what the sex is like, too.
Not Rose though...Rose is talking. So, I'm going to try Part 2 from her POV and see if I get them any closer to the bedroom. Sorry about the delay of...well...everything. If this doesn't work out this weekend. I'm back to the Disheveled finale on Tuesday.

Date: 2008-03-07 04:53 am (UTC)I have to admit, the idea of the Doctor continuing to dither and be vague sounds highly amusing, if frustrating for both of them. It's probably best for both of them if they work it out.
Characters can be so frustrating, sometimes!

Date: 2008-03-07 05:50 am (UTC)Take a break, pamper yourself a bit, and then see if Rose and the Doctor'll start doing as well as talking.
Real life has been kicking my creative butt recently...and sapping all my energy...so anytime I try to write something it just fizzles out. But I think when some of the stress goes away my ideas will come back...
So, yeah: my advice is good food & relaxation. Good luck!

Date: 2008-03-07 06:29 am (UTC)Maybe after you write Rose's POV you can then do the Doctors POV for the same scenes. I'd love it if you posted both, too. I loved the one multi-pov fic that I've read, and if it stretches out this lovely piece of writing, then I'm all for it.

Date: 2008-03-07 06:45 am (UTC)Rose could always club him and drag him in the bedroom. Not only is it aggressive... it gets him to stop the banter... and... nm cracky idea.
Either way, I'm looking forward to both! Take your time. ;) I'll wait patiently for Raefic. :3

Date: 2008-03-07 03:41 pm (UTC)And if I had mad fixed POV skills I could do it, I think. But, given my skill level, I don't feel it is a good idea to have the alien describe the alien sex. The Doctor in my head is just not very good at putting things in human terms while still keeping in voice.
And you know the Doctor...it's not going to do much for the mood if he starts babbling on about how his biology works. He'll just get technical and silly...which is funny but doesn't move the story forward into heated passion.
Rose will sort of need to move us to the action sequence here. And doing it remotely...well...it left the Doctor a little incoherent. Again, not really good for conveying what is actually happening to the reader. My alien sex is alien and walks the squick line and so I think really needs to be sweetened by the idea that ROSE is enjoying it.

Date: 2008-03-07 04:17 pm (UTC)Well, here's a suggestion - write it in Rose's POV so you have all of the plot references/dialogue written.
Then go back and try to switch it around. React to your Rose POV draft *as the Doctor*, and rewrite it.
Might help to maintain that POV. :)

Date: 2008-03-07 05:54 pm (UTC)I will look at it and see if I could make it his POV again...but I think it is crying out to be Rose...so I'm just going to let it.
Thanks for your pep-talk.

Date: 2008-03-07 09:21 pm (UTC)I envy you that you can write in Rose POV.
I'm pretty much useless at anyone but Ten (but since I get him jabbering on at me so much I guess that might be why).
