Someone is going to have to do an intervention on me to keep me off of the David Tennant sites. Tie me to a chair and rub me with camphor. Or whatever it is you do at an intervention. Come to think of it...that could just be a party at my house.

Anyway...very cute promo picture of the Doctor and Donna under this link...

It's not what I'd consider a spoiler as they are just standing there looking like an adorable brother/sister act. I don't know about the rest of you, but I want to give them both a hug.

I am very weak-willed. But hopefully I won't give in every time. I might have to stop my instant alerts feature for a bit and avoid the communities though. As I am very weak-willed when it comes to anything Rose-oriented.

Thanks for the link!

May I just say that David Tennant looks especially good in that photo?

Mmmm...Though, is it just me, or does his suit seem a bit...off? Like to bright or something. Is it the same one as before?

How many minutes do you give her before she starts sorting out that sloppy tie?

I don't think she will sort it out so much as mock and deride it. I really do think we will get more of a brother/sister act out of them. The matching suits play to that vibe. And he will be all whiny and she will be exasperated and it should be loads of fun for everyone. Lot of eye rolling culture shock and very little awe.

Brother/Sister? I was going to say Mother/Son or maybe young Aunt and Nephew.

Now! Now! Mother/Son?

Catherine Tate is only 39. Of course, it could be she uses the Jackie Tyler Method for official biography age-calculation. But she's still not old enough to be David Tennant's mum. I could be wrong but I think she's going to go for bossy older sister. Think Lucy and Linus from Peanuts.

Queenie, for the win...

...I flashed the photo around a few people who didn't know Who and they all said Mother/Son. I say poor Catherine Tate...because I don't think that was what they were going for at all.

On the other hand...good on David...because most people had no idea he was 37. They thought he looked twentysomething. So maybe this isn't about CT at all.

But I'm pretty sure brother/sister is what they mean to convey with the matching outfits and stances. That sort of "He drives me crazy and he's a brat but I wouldn't let anyone hurt him" sort of thing. Which is nice if Rose comes back and Donna is just sort of "Are you good enough for my little brother?"

I have nothing against the brother/sister angle. Just wasn't what I saw at first glance. I'm not saying Catherine looks old, I'd guess somewhere between 48 and 55 but David has always looked much younger to me. And older sisters can often act like mothers, should be interesting to see how how he deals.

And probably the reason I saw sister...

...is two-fold. One, I was sure that was what RTD was going to go for with the relationship...the nagging fretful siblings...and the matching suits played into that for me. I would never react well to mothers and sons dressing alike.

Two,all of my siblings are much older than me...and yes, my sister is sort of motherly, I suppose. Though she has also been pedantic and bossy which I associate with big sisters.

Also, I am in the habit of thinking of CT as two or three years older than David. So, I didn't think mother at all.

Hey hey hey, he's not 37 yet! (says the person who will also be 37 later this year and doesn't want to see it put upon anyone earlier than necessary)

But yeah, I have to agree that poor Catherine is showing her years much more so than David. One would think there was a decade between them rather than a mere 2.5 years. Of course, she also played Donna with that air of aging spinster desperation, so there's that context to it as well. But even if Donna and Catherine are of the same age, our dear Doctor still has several centuries on the old bird ;)

Because you said this wasn't a spoiler I clicked, and I'm glad I did. Look at Donna in her matching, but very feminine, pinstripes....adorable. This is going to be so much better than last series.

I'm trying soo hard to stay spoiler free. All the 'OMG TEIMCOCK SIZE SPOILER UNDER THE CUT' is making it very difficult though. But so far I've been winning the battles. Now if I can just win the war.

Tell you what, I'll be your support system if you'll be mine. When you feel the urge to click, drop me a line and I'll pull you away from the precipice. Deal?

:holds your hand:

It is so very difficult. I want to know about Rose. But I don't want to ruin the story...and for me...spoilers ruin the story. I'm too much of a writer to want to give away the ending. Also, once you know what will happen...all of the delight in imagining possibilites is gone. That's it! This is the ending. And I always feel that people who post spoilers delight in spoiling the fun for everyone else.

It's just mean to the people who did all the hard work of creating the story...and to the people who want to have a bit of suspense and joy.

I think picture 1 is rather funny too. I hope we are going for the ze zany comedy here. Angst makes Kes sad - and not in a good way.
From: [identity profile] rabid1st.livejournal.com
There will be the zany comedy with only the slight sisterly angst...like that hand hold or her "I met the right man once" to temper it and remind us of the pain he is in. Mostly they will be doing the eye-roll of disdain with one another, but we know that underneath it all they would defend each other if need be.

All of it will build to an emotional climax but not with Donna as a love interest or mopey side kick. I think it should be fun.

I'm expecting her to be more like the feisty friend that Sarah Jane was in Classic Who, afore they retconned her in SR. She won't take any crap from him, but likewise she's not likely to put up with anyone dishing it out to him.

We are expecting the same thing. And it is good to have another old schooler WTFing over Sarah Jane. I suppose, having rewatched Hand of Fear after the revelations of School Reunion, that I could believe (assuming Sarah Jane was particularly British and reserved) that she could have been hiding warmer feelings for him than she let show. "You were my life," was a little hard for me to swallow but...okay...the thing about shipping any two characters is how much the viewer(reader) has to suspend belief to buy it. And I can buy RTD's new Sarah Jane/Doctor relationship.

Let's see, would it help if we ramped up our bugging/begging/pleading for the finale of Disheveled? What if someone threatened you with the fluffy pillow of squee if you didn't glue yourself to your word processor and got an electric shock every time you ventured onto a site with spoilers?

I'm at your service and stand ready to help in this most trying situation. I just wish someone could help me with my paranoid fear of ever going near an actual episode again...

Definitely a brother-sister vibe here: two of a kind, seems to be the message.
