DISHEVELED -- LINK TO ALL PARTS...again
Nov. 19th, 2007 09:52 amSo...it's been a long road to this point. With the last two chapters (20 and 21) having gone up in quick succession...we are now only 4 chapters from the Chapter 25 finale. I hope to be done by Christmas. Still, I really don't recommend reading it all in one sitting.
So, how about a last minute catch up? I will link once more to communities and such at the end, for those of you determined to wait until the WIP is finished. And there is this link every time in chapters, of course.
But...I thought you should all know that this fic is now over 300 pages long, should top out just under 400 at the end. The first chapter was posted May 29th, 2006. So, I have been writing for a year and a half. It's like the Moby Dick of my works.
Say it with me..."WHEW!"

Dr. Who...Ten/Rose
Word Count: Brace yourselves...169,586 and rising.
Rating: Mature – Adult +
Pairing: Rose/Ten, Rose/Nine
Beta Babes: Vary...but are mentioned at each chapter.
Warning: Adult situations abound. This fic is not work safe. And while it is fun and frolic-y at points, it is also quite serious at others.
Spoilers: All of S2 – AU after Doomsday
Summary: This is Ten/Rose smutfic...of a sort...things are done differently and with the tongue...it gets wild...it gets deep....it meanders...and that's all I'm saying... Well, I will, also, say that the plot has remained the same throughout...we are going to the place we have always been headed. New readers need not worry that I will wander off into tangent territories midway through.
Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters. If I did…the show would be censored by…everyone but you smutty few. That said, I’m a nice person and I’m hardly worth suing, unless you fancy a 1999 Toyota or a large collection of books on overcoming writer's block. All characters and situations belong to the BBC and Dr. Who and Russell Davies, etc. I'm just borrowing them for the moment. I humbly thank Russell T. Davies for creating the sweetest, most-loving, most-genuinely iconic couple in the history of the world for me to play with. I really couldn't resist.

Date: 2007-11-19 03:12 pm (UTC)Oh! I hadn't realized that we were so close, relatively speaking, to the end. That makes me sad, actually, because I've just loved Disheveled so much. But I'm sure you're ready to close the book on this story, and work on other things.
Still, I really don't recommend reading it all in one sitting.
[grin] I read the first . . . seventeen or eighteen chapters, I believe, in one sitting. It was fantastic. :-) But then, I love diving in to a story and being able to roll around in it for a long time.
Good luck with the rest of the story, and I'm looking forward to the next chapter!

Date: 2007-11-19 03:38 pm (UTC)Normally, by this time I would have given up on a television couple...but so far...Russell has kept me interested in them. I want them together in Pete's World as intently as I ever did. To me, any other ending to the story rings false. And I do hope RTD feels the same way and can convince the BBC to see things his way.

Date: 2007-11-19 05:04 pm (UTC)So you can get an idea of exactly how long said commute was. :)
I have to say - it's amazing to see how completely different it's turned out to be from the original few chapters! But it's definitely kept focused, which I think is great.

Date: 2007-11-21 03:16 am (UTC)I am actually afraid to go back and read it through, because I think I will get mired in editing. But I intend to do just that when it is done...I'm sure I must correct hundreds of little glitches. It is astoundingly difficult to keep all of the details straight after all this time. I read each part multiple times and I read the previous parts as I write...but I haven't gone back through it beginning to end since about...Chapter 11. It is amazing to me that I'm not repeating myself or rambling.
The premise of the story has remained true and progressive since I set out from the PWP...so since chapter 4. I have been upto this point incredibly supported by canon. Runaway Bride was like a godsend...and then Donna coming back...and, of course, that RTD and I were on the same page about "moving on" in S3. I hope my luck holds through Christmas.
But I really think I need to get this done by then. Just getting premonitions that say RTD is going to cross very close to my bow...and I don't want my very own Titanic collision.

Date: 2007-11-19 05:09 pm (UTC)I love this fic just as much as I did when I first started reading it almost a year ago. I'm very glad I've stuck with it, even when I had no idea what was going to happen or how the Doctor and Rose would end up. And I still don't know what you have planned for them, outside of a few random guesses based on our past chats. But then, that's why I'm still reading, and that's why I'll be with it, and you, until the end. And regardless of the outcome, whether it be sad or happy, I know that when this story is over, I will be sobbing my eyes out.

Date: 2007-11-20 04:06 am (UTC)I have done one quick read-through of Chapter 21, but I've been running around trying to get ready for Thanksgiving, so I won't have a chance to comment/review until I get back home this weekend. I need to read it again, but it felt a little...off your game. I've got to look more closely at it, though...it could just be my speed read! lol
I can't believe this is almost done. Wow.

Date: 2007-12-05 11:58 am (UTC)I know I didn't end up having much to say about Ch 21...not sure why. I guess 'cause it was just such a normal day-in-the-life kind of thing. Which in and of itself was awesome, because it showed how close they two had become, but didn't seem to inspire me to much verbiage for some reason! ;)

Date: 2007-11-22 02:21 am (UTC)Well, just had to say how much I am enjoying this, and I am pacing myself with my reading because I usually try not to read works in progress as I am very impatient. I look forward to being able to print up the last 4 chapters before Christmas. Thanks!

Date: 2007-11-22 02:49 am (UTC)I have been quite vindicated since then, however. And I do hope that when the finale airs, we will link up seamlessly with S4 even. Donna coming back was such a boon to me because she is going to be perfect for chapter 23...Martha is there in original drafts and she really didn't work.
I do hope you continue to enjoy the ride. And I very much hope I have it finished by Christmas. If for reasons of deadline the finale chapters are a bit lacking in polish...check back for your printouts in a the New Year...as I intend to give the whole thing a good scrubbing once we are done.
Once again...thanks for letting me know you've hopped into the readership. Welcome!

Date: 2007-12-03 06:53 am (UTC)Sorta too late. *g* I read it in two days. This fic was so addicting and lovely and well put and just...well...wonderful. I love how you've woven your tale in between the episodes, making sense of the looks and the smiles. ::sigh:: I'm hopelessly hooked on Ten/Rose now.

Date: 2007-12-03 06:57 am (UTC)Thank you so much for leaving such lovely feedback. I'm happy to hear you found the fic addicting. I will try to get you another fix in a few days. All but one of the beta babes have reported back...so all I have to do is fix all my comma splices and misused words.
Cheers!
