I do not want you to die the death of a thousand erased lines. But I am happy that you have been writing. All of my artist friends want to write. Jei just sent me a bit of ficlet she's working on for Galactica. It's very nice.

I saw you were looking for a beta. I would volunteer but I am notoriously bad at it. Witness the many typos and spelling errors in my comments. And I can't even direct you to a good beta as mine (while lovely women in every way) need to be prodded and baited and sometimes switched before they agree to beta me. You will notice that I seldom have the full crew at work.

Of course...to be fair...as I hear the faint strains of beta yodeling...I WOULD get more consistent beta-ing if I didn't have the patience of a mayfly on crack. I tend to send out the chapter...tap my fingers a few times...check my email to see if I have a response even though I KNOW everyone else in the world is asleep at 4 in the morning...YIM someone to complain...listen to a song off some album...update the chapter...send it again...go to bed...get up in the morning...check my email...rant...go to work...update the chapter at lunch...check my email...alert the betas via e-mail that I've update AGAIN...come home...check my e-mail...dance around because one or two of my long suffering beta babes have responded...update again...post...tell the other beta babes I've posted.

Total turn-around time...16 hours.

The banner things...ugh. Well, there is supposedly a way to add them to existing LJ layouts (through customization), but I never managed to figure it out. What I did was to snag a basic .css LJ layout that was created by someone who knows waaaaaaaay more about that stuff than I do, and just tweaked it with my own graphics and such.

I got the original layout from

paintedlayouts. I believe the one I used was "Fleur", but as you can see, I mucked around with it quite a bit. lol

She's got some great tutorials (which were invaluable for getting the layout uploaded onto LJ), and doesn't mind if you play around with her layouts (I just try to be nice and credit her in my user info for the base).

And although I haven't actually used any of her layouts,

premade_ljs is good, too.

If you find something that you like and can't figure out how to tweak it, just let me know and I'll try to help you out. Honestly, what I ended up doing was just playing around with the code for a few days going "what's this thing do???" *LJ goes kersplat and Suze hits UNDO; rinse and repeat*

Of course, when I think about eating a *cough* chocolate + tennant, I think of those cadbury creme eggs and licking the middle out, and I just kinda ooze out of my chair. Which is usually pretty amusing considering that half of me ends up somewhere under the desk.

I used to dabble in writing long ago, usually when I got a particular idea and couldn't find another way to get it down. If I could concentrate, I'm sure I could pump out a full novel, but my attention...wanders.. ooh shiny!

I have a few friends who have offered to beta, but they're neither Who fans nor able to Brit pick, although my gal Roxy is married to a Brit. But I think Eds is scared of me. Ah well.

Your description of waiting for your betas sounds like me with my art crits... I end up usually checking my email and refreshing LJ every 5 minutes, waiting for a response, and if I don't get one, I pout like a sullen toddler.

I've worked about all I can on Rose tonight - I'm going to have to take drastic measures if I can't get this done for you before Christmas. I might cry.

To be honest, I won't mind at all if you can't get the smut chapter out by Christmas... I'd hoped to coincide the picture with the release of the chapter (wildly unlikely, but still). Of course, your other readers might lynch me should I suggest that, so I'll just hide behind my keyboard.

I'll probably be crying through Christmas anyways. PMS + Doomsday + family memorial = major tear fest. Hence the hiatus while the mother and I head up to Savannah until the 26th. I have a feeling Doomsday is going to be looming over my head all week... anytime I see an icon or wallpaper even remotely DD-scented, I get all weepy. Yargh.
