My computer has gone insane.

And it has eaten my fic, too.

ARRRGGGHHHHH!!!

Pixilated 3 (the FINAL CHAPTER)...ICHNOBATE's FINALE and the next part of SWEET SPOT AU...

GONE...GONE...GONE...

SOB!

And...I repeat...ARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!

Okay...pant...pant...pant...GASP!

It isn't hopefully as bad as all that. I still have the copies on the hard drive but my A drive is apparently reformating my disks when I try to save to them. This means when I go from one computer to another I am losing all my work.

I repeat WHAT THE F***? I lose anything on the disk when I try to save? It just goes bye-bye? That can't be right! Can it?

So far the biggest loss is SS-AU because that was pretty far along and not backed up to the hard drive in a few days. I hope I have a working copy of Pixilated 3 on the hard drive but this is a serious problem.

WHAT THE F*** COULD CAUSE THIS? Lightning frying the drive? I did add new software recently...anyone? Beuller?

It sounds like a virus of some sort. I'm assuming your hard drive is alright and it's the floppy drive that's acting up? One of my former classmates had a similar experience and he swore off floppies completely.

Poor Rae. [pets you gently] And because I'm all self-interested, I hope your can recover SS-AU and Pixilated ;)

As a stopgap measure, you could email files to yourself instead of using the disk drive (assuming you can get email at both computers). Not only does that bypass the malfunctioning drive, it also gets the attachments in your Yahoo mailbox, so even a catastrophic computer failure wouldn't lose you all your work.

Seconding this suggestion - getting those files (and any other precious items) in a safe place that isn't your hard drive is a smart idea.

Now you just need to wait for someone smarter than me to come along and suggest if there is any way to restore the lost files.
