There is an island off of Japan that is over run with thousands of semi-feral cats. These cats live the life and are fed by local fisherman. It is where your good and deserving Smokey is reincarnated for a life of luxury.

He's grateful to the humans and hopes they have good luck in life.

For more very cute cat photos...or very appalling ones, if you are a birdwatcher...go...

Those are some *gorgeous* photos. It definitely looks like a big old playground for cats. :)

That picture looks like the Michaelangelo Adam receiving the touch of life from God.

Aww! You are welcome. I am happy to have helped lift your spirits. The pics lifted my spirits, as well.

That's what I liked about it. I felt the exchange of divine blessings in the image, which mirrors the great work.

Yes. Just beautiful pics. I'm glad you enjoyed them. And I would love to visit this island and soak up the cat. But I imagine my cat allergies would kick up something awful.

Are you distressed about the closing of your DT community or something else? Or are you just a little down in the dumps in general? That is, after all, why my spirits needed raising. Nothing dramatic, just a general post holiday malaise.

I sent someone a link to that one photo and titled it, "And God created .... CAT!"

They do look like such happy cats. I like the depiction of cat families, that cat pair exchanging nose-bumps, the many leaps and stretches.

Have you ever read The Tribe of Tiger: Cats and their Culture? The author is an anthropologist with experience of both domestic cats and big cat species. I recommend it highly.

I have no problem with cats, but my brother is severely allergic to them. To the point where we can't get a cat to have here because he'd never be able to visit again! I actually snagged a couple of those photos and have one up as my desktop background right now. :)

I will break out in a very itchy rash all over my body if I stay with cats too long. I had to give up my beloved cat, when she was 13. I'd had her since she was a newborn and really didn't want to give up on us. But they were having to severely sedate me, by the time I gave in, to keep me from scratching myself silly. Prior to the rash, I have flu like symptoms, rather than the traditional stuffy nose. This is why it took allergy testing to discover the cat allergy.

So, I doubt I could visit this island in person. I can visit my sister's cat, as long as I leave after an hour or so and shower and change when I get home.

who also gave into the desktop background pic urge.

I have read that book. I have an abiding interest in cats, as my cat Sheba helped to raise me. She used to go out with me on walks and tried to teach me how to stalk and kill rabbits. I was a very awkward and embarrassing kitten for her.

A bunch of things. The site closing, stressful things at work, and I have some issues at home, Plus the weather makes me feel awful this time of year. Hopefully, it will get better soon.
