So, I received a camera for the Holidays

And this weekend, we went out and about to take a few shots of interesting houses. Here's a few architectural highlights.

Florida has a lot of Live Oaks picturesquely draped with Spanish Moss.




This neighborhood appeared to employ many landscape specialists. And they have cornered the market on wrought iron doo-dahs!




I enjoyed this ivy framed shield.




But this was my favorite shot. I think it captures both the architectural extravagance and excessive greenery perfectly. I tend to enjoy lines that carry the eye up and down like an escalator.




I hope this works. And I hope to show you more hidden beauty from central Florida soon.

That first one, I was like, there's a house in there?

I find the Spanish moss vaguely ominous.

I like the contrasting reddish plants in the third and fourth pics.

That last one -- do you think they planted the palms in sequence over time, or planted three sizes of palm to start with?

And this was on a bright and sunny day. Imagine how ominous it is at dusk on a rainy and oppressive day. Actually, I find Live Oaks a bit threatening, reaching out with those long spindly tree arms. And they are all...WE ARE OLD!

I liked the red contrast as well. There are some lovely hues to leaves down here. I have some very shots of very striking yellowish ones, too.
