An LJ Idol Rec -- My First One

So far on LJ Idol, I haven't felt confident recommending anyone. The level of writing is pretty consistent and I didn't want to pick out one person from all of the rest. But for the first time, an entry did such a good job on the Topic, in my less than humble opinion, that I feel I must recommend it to the more general audience of my FList.

And I think, since we all share this experience, my FList will easily relate to the particular form of narcissism this entry illustrates. I give you monkeysugarmama stressing out over her Facebook....

Heh. It's funny 'cause it's true. We do get so terribly paranoid when people don't respond to our LJ/FB/Tumblr/etc. posts. I try not to let it bug me, but there's always that twinge of "WHY DON'T PEOPLE LIKE MEEEEEEEEEE?????" LOL

I know. It is a particular form of narcissism that is peculiar to the social network.

But I do get worried if nobody has commented and my entry has been up for hours. I find myself doing that distraction thing, too, reminding myself that a watched pot never boils and forcing myself to stop checking on the damned thing. But, truthfully, it is silly to think that my entry is really a priority for people...especially if it isn't anything that interesting that I've posted.
