Doctor Who...camp with panache is done like THIS

Again, I find myself giving Matt/Moff notes on how to do Doctor Who right. Here's the Doctor with gadgets and a velvet tux.

Many people don't care for Jon Pertwee's Doctor, but I really love him.

I put him right up there with Nine and Ten and only lament that he was saddled with the Master too much and the special effects of his time were crap. But what a supporting cast he had, and gadgets and a wardrobe.

Plus, I really believed that he might have had sex in the past, too. He had sex appeal. As this vid clearly shows...notice that tight hug and forehead kiss for Jo? I could see Ten doing that with Rose. Imagine how much fun it would have been to have Jon Pertwee's Doctor with today's budget? We need some of this old world charm again, imltho.

Seeing this via FriendsFriends, and I have to say... as an old-time DW fan who still prefers Classic to New, why am I supposed to listen to the "many people" who don't care for Pertwee's Doctor? They bore me as much as the Seventh Doctor haters and the Tenth Doctor fangirls (the ones who proclaim that he was the Best Doctor Ever because he was a hot young thing, talk about missing the point of what DW used to be). Glad you've discovered that #3 was one hell of a Doctor, even if he wasn't young and pretty. He did it for me more than Tennant ever willl. Yeah, he had an air of experience -- and died with dignity, which is more than the self-pitying Tenth did. For me, he did everything better than Ten, and the Delgado Master was classy as hell, too. But thanks for the vid rec, because I always need more Thiird Doctor. ;-)

I always liked Three and like him even more after my recent DW rewatch. He's a bit flamboyant, but aren't they all? ;) I loved how he was like Action!Doctor, with his Venusian Tae Kwan Do (the spelling of which I know I just mangled) and cape swirling. But he could be serious, too. That whole scene where he tells Jo about Kan Po (again, sure I'm mangling the name) is so wistful and nostaglic. Plus, he had Bessie. I *adore* Bessie and want one for my very own.

Nice to have you here. Glad you enjoyed the vid. And I love someone who loves classic Who. But I haven't just discovered Pertwee, I'm an Old School fan. I've loved him since the day I saw him which, since I'm American, was in the early 80's. But he was always my fave until Nine came along.

I will say I agree with you about Ten's undignified end, there was so much wrong with RTD's style by that time and he made several poor choices. But sadly there we part ways as Ten is still my favorite Doctor of all time. Ten, Nine, Three, Five and Four, I'd say was my order now. But I do think that we need to go back to the old School style of a less emotionally unstable Doctor. I've had my fill of the "cool" but not really substantial fellows with Ten's sad demise followed by Eleven's mugging for the camera.

I think it was Venusian Akido. But that's okay because I mangled Bessie in my meme. Betsy? My word! And I adored her, too. But most of all I loved his style. He could be quite serious, as you say, and yet he loved people very much. He had that sort of twinkle in his eye that we saw again with Nine. And he think he and Nine were both quite manly Doctors, too. The others are all frail or odd, but Three and Nine look like brawlers. Of course, I think only Three truly was a brawler, though I imagine Nine whipped out some Akido during the Time War.

This vid made me want to do a rewatch. I also so a little bit of The Daemons the other day which made me long for Old School Who. It's Eleven really, he's driving me mad. LOL
