House 8x2 Ssssspoilers!

House is back. I know, technically, House was back last week. But it isn't House for me until Wilson is there.

And Wilson was definitely there this week. Being snarky and adorable. And, let me say something, here...

It is no secret that I've always been a House/Wilson shipper. It is the one slash pairing I can completely believe is canon worthy and, more than that, SHOULD be canon. I'm not even this much behind Ianto/Jack or Holmes/Watson. But, despite that, I thought I wouldn't mind House/Cuddy last year, as some of you know. The thing was House/Cuddy left me cold. I didn't get that little tingle of appreciation when they had their steamy moments, if you catch my drift. But tonight, Wilson gave me electric shocks...from all the way across the room...when he said, "The thing is House, I don't like you."

I thought he was going to say it. I really did think he was going to drop the other L word. I was thrilled and shocked and slightly breathless, basically all atingle. And even though he didn't say it, combined with the slight smile he had at the start of the scene when House went back into the MRI (not to mention the continuing meat metaphor), it reads very much as if he DID say it. And, even though I normally object to personal violence, let me tell you I also like me some authoritative Wilson with the "I'm bringing dinner to your place at 8:00 and I'm back on meat." :Rae raises an eyebrow: Say no more.

But I must say more, because House was wooing Wilson with the diagnosis "Wilson needs these lungs", since House has already clarified that the patient means nothing to him. And then there was the "I like the sound of your voice" and there was "My heart will go on," which was priceless. Remember when you lost that necklace I gave you.

And the question of jailhouse intimacy came up, I said it would. However, I found the rape comparison distasteful, because even men shouldn't claim it was that when it wasn't, which is what House was saying in a round about way. And Lo, Wilson focus as he goes on about it. Though, perhaps Wilson is also somewhat put off at the insensitivity there. Typical House, of course, but I wish the writers hadn't gone to such a vulgar place and had handled the issue of jailhouse relations another way.

The new girl is adorable in my opinion. Spunky and helpful. And her issues are a little bit refreshing. I mean McMasters resisted her inner bitch, too. But she was always so goody-goody, while this girl seems to have inner power of her own. I wish we didn't have to have Taub back. Chase I could stomach. I loved next week's suggestion that House is acting out Charlie's Angels fantasies. It would be great to just get this show back on an even keel again without too much melodrama. So I am happy that Wilson caved quickly. But I hope he keeps a firm hand on House this season, because while it is true that Wilson needs pushing, House needs reining in sometimes and only Wilson can actually do that. I loved the parallel with the alcoholic boyfriend of Wilson's patient, too. He's no good for her in some ways, and the best thing for her in others.

Oh, now, I must go and watch that bit in the MRI room again. Because you know that Wilson was definitely ALMOST saying it, right there. LE SIGH!

I admit, I was happy to see my Wilson back on the screen.

I didn't care for the "Me Foreman! Me in charge!" dynamic and I think even the actor seemed tired of a storyline that always always fails because the show is called "House" and not "Foreman". This seems like Foreman's role, to get shit on by House, and now he's basically an administrator which makes it even worse. House not in a power role with Foreman being a vengeful dick makes Foreman look like a petulant vengeful dick even when he really has every right to be pissed with House. When it comes to House vs Foreman, House always wins.

I agree about House vs. Foreman, but I hope this won't be one of those vengeful wars. I mean, I know this episode started out with Foreman playing power games, but it seemed to me that he was trying to act more like an administrator in the end. Whoever is the Dean of Medicine is going to be at war with House, simply because House is a loose canon and he doesn't respect authority. I liked that Foreman relented on the office and will relent on the assistants. I'm hoping this will be good for both House and Foreman, because now that Foreman has true authority he has a chance to grow into the job.

It was a fantastic episode. And I'm happy I was able to express stuff for you, too. I think I didn't quite connect with some folks on House_Wilson, because they thought I meant Wilson didn't like House. Also, I did notice a few people were taking it at face value, but to me it seemed pretty obvious that the H/W story paralleled the patient/alcoholic boyfriend story and so Wilson was essentially saying he loves House and needs him and all the rest, even on those days when he doesn't particularly like him.

I tell you, I really did think he was going to say more....and I said it for him in my head...and imagined the audience saying it. But apparently some of the audience didn't get the same feeling about that scene. Still, I think the writer's meant us to catch our breath there and not in a bad ("It's all over") way, but in a "Good Lord it IS love" way.

To me, that "I don't like you, House!" Was similar to "We aren't friends. We can never be friends." Because the feelings go so much deeper than ordinary friendship, not because we are indifferent to one another.

I understood what you were saying because I thought that too when Wilson said those words. (Even in 5x1 when Wilson said to House that they weren't friends and he wasn't sure that they ever were, it seemed to me he was saying it was because they were actually more than friends).

It's also similar to Spike's explaining to Angel and Buffy why they could never be friends.

*I know Spike was talking about Buffy/Angel, but you could apply it to her relationships with Spike and Faith as well. [Joss did say that the subtext between Buffy/Faith was intentional].

Anyway, when Wilson said to House "We aren't friends. I'm not sure we ever were" in season 5, I thought of that quote and what he said in last night's episode reminded me of that too :)
